Hey guys,

I am finding it difficult to find a monitor for gaming. I have read reviews and articles regarding all sorts of different monitors. I have managed to get to these two monitors (still not quite sure!).

Benq XL2410T 24" TRUE 120Hz 3D Widescreen LED Monitor
LG W2363D 23" TRUE 120Hz 3D Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black

Now I cant really say I have any plans for gaming in 3D, not yet anyway, but I think 120hz is the way forward? Now I have come across these two monitors and they tick the apparent boxes. I would prefer to stick to LG because my tv is LG and I have nothing but good things to say about that, now obviously monitors are a different thing...

I have read that LED backlit doesnt offer, with the price in mind, that much in comparison but these two monitors are similarly priced. I am leaning towards the LG but not sure at all.

If anyone can convince me of a better alternative then that would be great I would consider all!! Thanks in advance for any input.

Benq XL2410T 24" TRUE 120Hz 3D Widescreen LED Monitor

All the way, especially if you play FPS games.

Pretty much feels and plays like a 120hz CRT :)

I wouldnt recommend the Benq after trying it, lots of backlight bleeding and I didn't feel the screen was bright enough for 3d gaming.

They claim displays with the back light bleeding are from a bad batch but I would avoid them if this is what gets past their quality control. :(

As a seasoned monitor reviewer with pepper on his head I would recommend either waiting for Samsung's upcoming '7' and '9' series 3D monitors or plumping for the ASUS. I have had nothing but good feedback about the ASUS and if you can cope with the glossy screen you are greated with a bright, vibrant and very smooth image. The BenQ seems to be plagued with inconsistencies, a relatively 'dull' image and a good old coating of matte antiglare. I wouldn't pay around £300 for this myself after using it, reviewing it and gathering feedback about it from disgruntled users. Responsiveness is very good, stand adjustability is nice to have (even if it is a bit stiff and plasticy) but that's about all it has going for it.

P.S. Maybe I got out of bed on the wrong side this morning :D.

You mean the Asus? :) I remember in another thread you said acer by mistake

Got the Asus coming tomorrow, will post up some firt impressions that might help you decide :)
Could you tell me when you get yours if you have problems with game characters appear dark on some games? I noticed this when i was playing fallout new vegas when i was in a building called the dam HQ. all characters appared dark. Happened on MW2 aswell in some buildings that had decent lighting.
Pretty sure it didnt happen on my old monitor but need to check.

But its a nice monitor and the glossy screen aint a big deal with reflections like people make out. I only notice relection on black levels if im looking for it. But i have a window blind and no lighting coming from directly behind me like a lamp.

Yes sorry.. ASUS. I have a habbit of saying Acer by mistake. They blend into one for some reason - I think because I have been talking about Acer's upcoming 3D monitors a lot recently. :p

If you could do that mate that would be greatly appreciated thanks.

PCM2 you shall now be referred to as "monitor man" haha. Cheers for your review, just the information i needed! Shame OLED's wont significantly drop in price any time soon.

a lot of mixed reviews about the BenQ. I suppose I dont want to go through the process of getting a monitor I could potentially have to return. However, there are some good reviews out there... hmmm.

Asus looks very nice indeed, I will def look into that. Thought Samsung was all frilly dress and no knickers? Ile have to look into their new upcoming gear if you rate them.

Samsung have launched some really impressive monitors in the past few years with appeal that goes far beyond just aesthetics. I would certainly wait and see how their new monitor series' turn out. Although you're right to save at least half an ounce of excitement for their OLED monitors in a couple of years. :p

It arrived. Anything you'd like to know? It's pretty awesome, definitely happy with the purchase and so far I can't fault the monitor.

brit~XR, I've had no problems like the one you describe. Only a bit of ghosting during set-up (no noticed it since/during games though).

hey,

I'm not too sure to be honest. I would like to know if the glossy screen can be detrimental or not? Brits report sounds like contrast issues, I imagine that could be handled with fine tuning?

What games do you play?

Thanks satchef1, bit of a pain in the ass so I appreciate your help!
