Graphic Design Competition - Look inside for details (Competition WON - No More entries)

Hi there


A simple competition, we want our front page re-designing:-

What we want is the top two feature products replacing with three new graphics.

1. Full Systems - So an image of a PC/Monitor/Keyboard etc. playing a game thats eye catching. (300x210 pixels) - Centre image.
2. Laptops - Image/Collection of laptops. (250x210 pixels)
3. Bundles - Image of a motherboard, cooler, memory, cpu etc. (250x210 pixels)

All you have to do is design the three images that go into those slots.

Were doing this because we believe that unless you know your way around our website on first glance you'd not even know we built our own PC's and bundles or supplied laptops.

Therefor we want to give the front page a fresh look by removing the first two featured products in favour of the three above buttons, remember they should fit in with our website design/colours, they should not stick out like a saw thumb or look out of place but should be eye catching.


The winning entry shall be choosen by OcUK on Monday 21st February and the prize is an OCZ 500W PSU, Patriot 4GB DDR3 1333MHz memory kit and Arctic Sound P321 headset. :)
 
Posting the entries in here or...?

EDIT: Also, the site is dynamically sized to fit with whatever width the browser window has. Using fixed width images will be awkward here.

The sizes I have posted account for our minimum window size, you don't need to worry about that. :)

Just having a quick look at your front page; perhaps an 'About Us' tab should be included. It could include profiles of some staff members, why the company was started, how successful it has become, what OcUK stands for (great service, expert knowledge and competitive prices etc). Just an idea off the top of my head.
 
ooo i wish i could do this but never in a million years would my photoshop skills match what others will do. just a thought though for those who do the images, i'd say the word systems isn't enough to show that they're built by ocuk. something like OCUK built systems or Custom Systems would be better imo

You may have minimum window sizes but you should think about setting a predefined repeatable background gradient that everyone can work on top of.

This will stop it looking like amateur hour when buttons come in for the size you have set and they don't scale horizontally.

Also, are you looking for designs using Google images? I would hope OcUK marketing have a managed stock image library. It would be a good idea to offer a few images that OcUK hold copyright or license to use.
 
The page is far too busy as it is, just use the black boxes like you have for "today only" and "latest products".
