IS the Benq XL2410T 24" TRUE really that bad?:(

im in the market for a monitor thats "24, 120hz and no more than £270. Im tempted to buy the Benq XL2410T 24" but ive seen a lot of reviewers on here and on the web saying about backlight bleeding and ghosting sometimes. Is this true? Ill mostly be using it for blueray playback and gaming. (and in a few months 3d gaming) Im upgrading from a Samsung t240 (well im keeping it but having it as my second monitor) Is it worth the £269?
Ive seen some people also saying about the LG W2363D, mostly saying its better than this monitor. does any one know?

Also i had an old monitor a few years ago that in very darkscenes used to blend in the detail so if you were looking at at a game where a man is in the shadows, he would appear as just a shiny black mass. Does any one know what causes this? as id really like to avoid this in my next monitor. thanks

There is a huge thread on here with some mixed opinions on it. What I will say is that, at the moment, the LG costs around £100 less and in some respects is a better monitor.

True

but id be willing to pay the extra £100 if its a lot better monitor. I cant stand the black mass/shiny black problem -_- Nothing worse than playing on a dark game and getting no detail

I sent you a message to your email. The XL2410T is very variable (as are a lot of modern BenQ models). When we reviewed the screen it did have a lot to offer but given the price we wouldn't have been happy if we were a paying customer. Our experiences are echoed by many other users, but we are fairly sure we got a 'bad egg'. TFT Central's review unit (see their review here) seemed a lot better, for example. In any case the response time algorithm (which I alluded to in the email) is the same on every unit - BenQ didn't implement it very well unfortunately.

im more tempted to get the LG then, from what i see and you say its a lot better than the BenQ. The only thing that is putting me off with the no 120Hz support on HDMI. Kinda rules out me watching my blue rays/playing games on it using my ps3. I suppose you wouldnt happen to know about the 'shadow detailing' on the LG would you? Ive heard there isnt much detail in dark scenes on the Benq but i havnt seen much about it on the Lg. Once again thanks for the link and advice

No problem. I've been having problems with my email recently but I think I've sorted it out. Could you try sending me a quick message again to see if it works? In the mean time I'll have a chat to a colleague who has used both the LG and BenQ so he can compare nicely.

For some reason I didn't receive it. My email server seems to be working fine though (or so I thought) as I have just received a load of emails. Maybe it is getting congested? P.s After looking at the monitors you suggested i noticed they were gloss

MY monitor sits next to a window. Also behind me are two large lamps lol so i dont think that would be a good idea.

I think i may just wait for the next gens to come out! Ty for yourhelp tho

I had the BenQ. Hated it badly.
Overdrive trail was awful and the colours were oh so bad.

Moved to the LG w236d and I love it! It has a matte screen and a gloss casing.
I also didn't want gloss and thats the reason I didnt choose the Acer.

I love the LG. Absolutely no overdrive trail and amazing picture quality/colour

The LG W2363D is also known (less common in the UK) as the W63D which makes it sound like a lubrication oil. It has a glossy bezel but the screen itself is matte and shouldn't pose any problems. Don't worry about the email. Basically I've spoken to a colleague of mine who has experience with a number of 3D monitors and he rates the LG very highly. The previous poster hit the nail on the head regarding the overdrive trailing. The BenQ has a noticeable 'dark' trail behind fast moving objects. Although it is still an improvement over most 60Hz monitors in terms of responsiveness this trail is very distracting for many people. The LG handles it much better, creating very few such artifacts. Other things he noted were that colour gradients and low-end detail (shadows) were better on the particular LG he tested than the BenQ. Unfortunately the BenQ he tested was the same one we reviewed so it wasn't a glowing example.

hi guys, got my monitor today!...must say im shocked..there is no diffrence

Im watching a blueray on the screen and there is still ghosting, exactly the same as on my old monitor -_- ive changed it to 120hz in the nvida control panel.

Any one know if theres something ive nott hought of?

I also have my 60hz monitor connected, do you thinkt hat may be brining it down? -_- If i drag around a window half on my old monitor and half on the new one i can see a very slight diffrence, but only if you lkknow what your looking for..if you get me. Was i expecting too much? lol

Have you tried installing the driver?

Failing that, try removing the second monitor, then completely reinstalling the Nvidia drivers.

I don't mean to be the bringer of bad news but a lot of what you see could be 'judder' caused by the frame rate at which the film is shot. Unlike a game the motion won't be set at up to 120fps (even if it is a multiple of that). I have never really found 120Hz monitors to provide any real 'smoothness' benefit on films, only games. I am quite sensitive to this though so maybe I'm being overly critical. Have you tried any games yet?

ive tryed crysis 2 and..tbh it seemed to look about the same, except on an inch smaller screen and smaller res -_-

Maybe i was expecting too much from the bluerays

i would have liked to see an increase from the gaming/general working on the desktop though.
