Tour de France 2011

Grats to Cadel Evans for the yellow, I thought it was a little hollow taking it in the time trial but then I thought back to how he went up the Galibier and held on the next day he did deserve it :)
Yeah, but he's such an odd looking square faced squeaky weirdo!

Superb finish it looked like he wasn't quite up to speed when he went but Bosen-Hagen just topped out and Cavendish pulled away nicely :)

Good, but not as impressive as last year, with the shot tracking the other sprinters and he just motored past like on a motorbike!

That was due to a tail wind behind him last year, he still motored through with that second kick against Hagen :P

Millar describes Cav as the greatest british sportsman around right now. Can anyone disagree?

I still find it odd though how little attention this gets. It's hardly mentioned on the BBC news page - with Hamilton's victory today getting the main sports headline.

I suppose ITV has run with ITV4 being their channel for non-mainstream sporting events. But given that the final stage is a pretty big deal, especially with a potential British win, you would think they might put it on the main ITV channel instead.

However, they decided repeats of old Inspector Morse and Midsomer Murders episodes were more worthwhile showings.

And what's with their cutting away from the Final ceremonies? Such as Cav being awarded the green jersey just so they can show repeats of Police, Camera, Action and The Professionals? I'd wager people watching ITV4 would much rather have seen the ending, than waiting for a Highlights show, I'm sure the audience far out weighs those who tuned in to see Aliaster Stewart.

Don't even get me started on the three weeks of the same adverts every 5 minutes either!

I'm sure they will all jump on the Cavendish bandwagon next year when he is a British Olympic hopeful though.

Not keen on the ITV4 coverage myself, I always watch it on Eurosport for the insights and banter of David Harmon and Sean Kelly plus they had about an hours analysis/post Tour wrap-up today from James Richardson and gang as well as showing all the podium presentations (some damn fine women up there today!).

:mad::mad::mad:

Wasn't expecting an F1 spoiler in the TDF thread, just got home and turned the race on to watch.

:p
