Hi guys

I allways do my shopping online at asda

At the checkout it usually takes me halifax Secure (its like extra security)

It normally asks for my secret information and when ive added it and it recognises it as correct it will then say thank you for shopping at asda bla bla bla

But today i went to pay for my shopping and it took me to halifax secure and just went straight past it and said everything was done and my shopping will be deliverd tommorow.

Should i be worried about this? or should i call my bank?

Thanks

Probably not relevant to your situation but just now there is a massive amount of online fraud doing the rounds in relation to Halifax Secure. Somehow, third party web sites are redirecting some customers to fraudulent and fake Halifax Secure login screens where your details are stolen.

Last week my wife made a purchase online at some point that directed her to her Halifax Secure login. She was perfectly sure she entered the correct details but the screen appeared to vanish and then appear again and ask her to log in once more. The fraud department at HBOS think it was at this point her account details were stolen. This resulted in 3 separate withdrawals of £300 each time to be debited from our account to "Tesco Savings". I'm rather anal when it comes to PC security and repeated scans using various security programs threw up nothing which could have been related to this at a local machine level so it was definitely an external threat which brought about the issue.

HBOS are well aware of this scam doing the rounds just now and we were credited our lost cash back by the end of the same day it happened, thankfully. Just be careful out there folks.

I get the same thing with visa secure, certain web sites the box pops up and the order just processes. I don't know it might be a cost trigger or random check

I get this for the "Verified by Visa" security when using ASDA too, I get it for all of my cards (debit & credit), the secure page flashes up but then proceeds to the order page without asking for my password.

All other sites seem to require my password though :)

yeah that is a bit strange

Mine needs filling in every time

Mine did this yesterday, I imagine it remembers the PC you used previously so if you order something using it again you don't need a password.

I got one of these with maestro, it was going to be my first purchase but whenever the extra security thing came up I backed out and never ordered online. I can't be assed having to remember another security thing it is ridiculous how many codes you are expected to remember.

Maybe it is learning what shops you use regularly and so stops asking you for details when you use one of your regular shops?

Nothing to worry about mate there was a message through online banking a wee bit back where it mentioned Halifax Secure was changing, no longer putting in the password and it now performs its own checks on sites as per purchase.

So no need to worry, this change was coming!
