I'm planning on getting a hazro and at the moment I only have a single 6970. I did have 6970 xfire at one point, but I sold the other as I just didn't need it for the games I was playing at 1080p.

Should I grab another 6970 cheap off the MM for xfire, or sell the 6970 and grab a 7970 when they are out?

Will the 3gb vram make much of a difference over 2gb?

Yeah games like BA3 are maxing out my current 6950 @ 6970 shaders, I'm grabbing like 50fps on high. I'm intending on grabbing a 6970 or a 6950 off MM In January for Xfire then It will eat any games.

Plus 2560 eats VRAM and I'd rather pick up a second hand for £150 then have Crossfire with the extra VRAM as I believe 7970 only has 3GB. More games modern games are following the trends and have a high usage of VRAM so It can only continue.

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say here? :p With crossfire 6970 you will still only have 2gb of vram.

Sorry messed up what I was talking about, didn't mean 6950s x2 give 4GB ram. But I'm in the same boat as you really - on my Hazro now, looking to maximise performance. Going to wait and see the pricepoint of the 7970, if it's the rumoured 500euro price point I'm going xfire 6970/50, if it's the 430euro price point I'm grabbing it.

I've got two 6970's and am in the process of building as i type lol! I have also got the hazro (WD).. reason i got two 6970's simply because of this monitor!

I have the same monitor and did have two 6950's. Easy to say everything ran great. Battlefield 3 included. And that was on ultra. My fps never really dipped much below 40.

Ok so got my build completed. At present getting just over 9000 points on 3Dmark 11 as a crossfire setup. I have the MSI lightening editions so will be overclocking to see how far i can push them.

2gb ram is more than enough memory 3gb is overkill

im using crossfire 1gb hd4890 with my h27wc just benched wake island all cranked up no aa and no motion blur 2560x1440

min 45, max 155, avg 81.53

A good quality 650w psu should be fine. But something like a 750 or 850 will give you a bit more breathing room.
