This maybe a stupid question: what is V-Sync

Should I have it on or off, with it off in MW3 I get better frame rates then it on:confused:

What is the rule of thumb on this have it on or off

Normal play games at 1920-1080p, MSI 6790, BF3, MW3, CRYSIS 2

Cheers for help.

It basically locks your graphics card down to your monitor resolution. Monitors are generally between 60-120 frames per second maximum, so you dont really need to render more frames a second than your monitor refresh rate. I use Vsync generally.

Sometimes its good to stop your gpu running hot/or gpu fan running fast as it locks framerates,no real point in having 200+ fps in certain games ect when 60fps is all that's needed, but if it causes jerkyness or lag simply turn off
