Well, after some scraping of skin and lots of swearing ive got it fitted.
Had to remove the motherboard from the case, as the cpu backplate access hole on my mobo tray wasnt big enough to install the backplate through. Aside from this, the backplate installation was pretty straightforward. Quite a sturdy mounting mechanism, and no visible warping of the motherboard. Ram slot clearance is fine as im using 12gb of low profile kingstons in a 3x4 config. But by moving the front fan to the other side, my 6gb of ocz reapers would fit fine as well. Also a fairly tall cooler, my case is thankfully able to accomodate it ok.
Really impressed with the build quality, and the fans as well. Much quieter than the pair of vipers i had on the supermega. Not too mention better looking. Though the front 120mm fan will be replaced with a similair speed black and blue Alpenfohn wingboost i have.
Cpu temps currently idling at, 36-32-36-32, i7 920@ 4.0ghz, 1.3125v, fan speed of 557 rpm. 5c lower than the supermega with the vipers at 800 rpm. Ran a quick run of LinX. Max temps of 73-70-69-67, 3-5c down from the supermega, fan speed maxed at 1654 rpm, much quieter again than the 1900 rpm vipers. All in all, a very impressive product, and very well priced. Much better so than the supermega which cost £70.00 when purchased. Which came with no fans.
