Who pays into a pension?

Reminds me of a stat that always shocks me.

Looking at the FTSE 100, Investors who missed out on the 10 best days of the past decade would see their total return fall from 120.7% to 35.3%.

Haha - love that one. Use it all the time with clients to remind them that trying to time the market is futile.

I also really like the fact that assets are the only thing people actively avoid buying when they're on sale. Clothes, cars, books, DVDs, they are psychologically more motivated to purchase when you slap a 'SALE' sticker on them, but shares, bonds and funds are avoided when they're trading at discount. :)

Much rather stuff it in the mattress instead. :D

I take it that means 10 individual days? Not one 10day period

I'm putting in 10% now and that's being matched
All my previous companies had no contribution!

Christ.

The average deal in here is far higher than what I would expect. I'd be interested to know how long people have held these jobs. Perhaps I'm getting a raw deal!

4 years here. I assume public vs private has a significant impact also?
With me working in the public sector I assume rates are more favourable, or is this not the case?!

I plan to start when I'm most of the way there to a mortgage deposit. Starting to funnel my rent into equity is more important I think, but I haven't ran all of the numbers properly :p
yep I am under no illusion that I will be royal shafted by Queen and country when it comes to collecting time, but might as well try.

I've put away a set amount since mid-20s (5-6 years ago), but joined company one as the amount that comes out was the same as I saving before, plus the employer puts in about 15% odd now which is great.
