Feather ruffling to commence on both sides

Not again lol.

I have just resorted to playing this on the PS4. Its actually not such a bad downgrade Graphics wise. Ok it looks really nice with the 780TI, but its unplayable in its current state.

Stutters everywhere. My friend is rocking 2X Titan Blacks, Hex Core Sandy-E 32Gig Ram and he cant even get the game to run nicely at 720p low settings.

Its a pile of steaming turd at present. The PS4 version has almost all the tricks, its just lower res and 30FPS but boy does it work great. I started to forget this was a £350 console at one stage. You really are not missing that much, I am amazed.

Of course its killing me not playing this on the PC. I think UBI need to really sort this out. 6 Days in from release and I cant play the dam thing. The 7 hours I spent in game according to steam has been 4 hours on pause and 2 hours tweaking.

I've tried it for an hour but the stuttering made me sick.

I wonder if they have badly integrated the Games Works stuff?

Also I do wander why NVIDIA chose to push this game? The devs on twitter are Screaming you need 3+Gig of VRAM for Ultra yet 99% of NVIDIA cards have 3GB or less!! and yet the Geforce experience app wants to set all of it to Ultra and why does it not use TXAA??

I'm sensing a FAIL all round here!

Did you try turning textures and shadows down to just high?

I have 2GB 670's in SLI and get a constant 60fps at 1080p +SMAA with everything else maxed apart from those two settings (which are on high). Runs as smooth as a baby's bottom.

What res you playing at? I think ultra textures and shadows are bugged or simply too much (for some reason) for even 3GB cards.

Urgh, that sucks. Feel for ya. :(

I got bored of trying to make it play well but, isn't the texture size option greyed out and unchangeable? At least it appeared to be when I tried it and I've seen other people's screenshots where texture setting looks greyed out with no arrows for changing the setting.

Is it only on cards the game deems really shouldn't use ultra textures that the option is available?

Either way, 1x 290x or 2x290x's with WAY more than 3gb ram and only 1080p.... still stutters like a mess of crap. 3gb isn't the issue. Hell it drops below 30fps now and then and even at a higher frame rate it stutters. This was released on the 360/ps3 as well right, not just the next gen consoles.

Its why i'd like the industry to move forwards and work together for us all but i cant see it happening :(

No, it is only greyed out whilst in game. If you exit to the main menu you can change the texture setting. It isn't locked out to anyone. Surely you figured that out if you owned the game?

Also, try with textures and shadows set to high. I get no stutter at all with those two settings set to high and not ultra.

Mate I have tried everything.. So has my friend. Lowest settings 720p etc. Stuttering pile of ****e TBH. SLI Titan Blacks same thing.

We both tried systematically going through the setting from LOW-HIGH and then Mixing Med/High Low/Med etc.. nothing.. FPS lower than whale ****e when driving...Unplayable.

I want to go Joe Pesci on UBI Soft! The scene in Casino "I think I want my money back" lol

When you say you have tried everything...did you try the registry fix I posted in the Watchdogs game thread?

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=26376209&postcount=1618

Worked a treat for even my ageing rig.

It was also a bit of a shock to see Epic strongly denying that GameWorks is fully integrated into Unreal Engine. Collateral damage from Epic? Maybe.

Unreal engine is a work in progress. It's not finished yet and everything that's going to be included isn't in there yet.

(quote from the video, remember that these people don't know everything that's going on since they can't work on everything at the same time and they can't all specialize in the same things)

-How is that you know... What's our status there? [referring to gameworks]
-Have we actually started integrating?
-umm *shrug*
-I know it's been on our radar but I don't know what, I don't know how much we've done
-I.. I can't say that say that it's on the list right now but that's not definitive so we should probably follow up on that one.
-Yeah we're definitely talking with them [Nvidia] about it.
-Isn't there like the whole controversy right now about watch dogs and gameworks and PC and yadda yadda?
-No idea.
-I think so, yes.
-umm.
-There's controversy we shouldn't talk about it.
*laugh*
-we're going to move on.

"on the list" btw doesn't refer to everything being planned and coming, it's just stuff that's getting work done right now and that has a set timeline etc.

So they basically just want to avoid the biggest FUD train on the internet and continue doing what they were doing.

As you can see there they're going to integrate and are in talks with Nvidia about it. It's just not in there yet due to the unfinished nature of UE4 in general.

GameWorks isn’t integrated directly into Unreal Engine 4 core, says Nvidia and Epic

While it’s clear that Nvidia and Epic are planning a tight partnership with Unreal Engine 4, this is scarcely the first time the companies have worked extensively together. It’s now been made clear that Nvidia’s entire suite of GameWorks libraries won’t be the default option for game developers or hobbyists who want to use the engine, and that does somewhat reduce to threat to competitive balance between AMD, Nvidia, and yes, Intel.

Spent three hours with the PS4 one last night. Has become an instantly better game than the one I fudged with on the PC earlier in the week.
It's a startling contrast to be honest.
Gone is the woeful stuttering, but the lag that couldn't be shifted from the PC one, no matter what concessions, tweaks, fixes etc were implemented, was a complete game-killer.
In comparison, the PS4 version is a breath of fresh air for a game that should really have no problem running on two of my PC setups. Looks good, controls well, more or less a rock solid 30fps with no hindrance at all to control input.

Ubisoft, from a PC perspective, should hang their heads in shame.

Would rather trust UE4 developers.

Epic devs know what they're doing:

The article is legit, it's just Matt's been selective with his quote and the title is a bit misrepresentative.

*EDIT*

To clarify the issue, the idea that "GameWorks isn’t integrated directly into Unreal Engine 4 core" is both right and wrong, it is partially integrated but not fully integrated, only a couple of the features are implemented as standard, okay.

However the rest of the features can be integrated, at the digression of the developer using the engine as they are available via additional plugins, sort of like optional extras on a car, you get the leather as standard but have to pay extra for the navigation.

I hope that helps clear up any confusion anyone has.

I make sure to take the conclusion or a line from the final paragraph. I'm not going to post the whole thing out of respect for the journalist who researched the information. Just read it all yourselves, you lazy gits. :p

Joel Hruska has got major beef with GameWorks and I don't even bother reading his articles anymore, as it just comes across as personal. He has done 3 articles (could be more?) on GameWorks and it is the same rhetorical crap and even when he is shown how wrong he is, he just ignores it or twists it to suit.

Batman is Bad because if we lower the settings, a 770 beats a 290 but if we have high settings, a 290 beats a 780Ti.... Etc etc. Evil nVidia :sarcastic:
