Dealing with noisy neighbours

Thanks for the advice.

I've sent the email to the property management firm. I will also inform my letting agency, if all this fails then I will move once the agreement ends in 5 months.

In 5 months we can make a list of to do.

Poo in letterbox and playing cat fights from youtube before you move out and make sure no one has sleep for weeks. You can use ear plugs or move out early and just leave it on with a few quid of electric in the meter. What can they do anyways?

Also are there trees? Where i moved from the back is linked to a forest. I still get thoughts of going in and hanging up cheap wind chimes in every damm tree or getting one of those kids to do it for me who can climb up really high. It will drive them mental because i remember an arguement they had with another neighbour ironically about the sounds of thier wind chimes. And there is no way the typical lard butt benefit claimer like them can climb those trees.

They would have to pay a tree surgeon. Not to mention the things i could do to the dog, God forbid someone might sneak in under cover of darkness and open the gate! :o

I probably should have done all of the above, So far for them life goes on as usual.

Oh don't start me on wind chimes... neighbour hung one on the edge of their house right outside my bedroom window... strangely they never asked what happened to it.

Good luck, keep us posted. :)

You really shouldn't have to move because of the ignorance of someone else. I would persistently keep contacting the relevant people / authority until this is resolved. As said, keep a diary.

Why has it taken you so long to contact someone for help?

You stole it? lol ;)

Imagine one on every tree, Thats the thing about noise some people find it relaxing like a wind chime. But i bet if you insulted that person and said to them about the wind chime it would eventually rile them up to the point where the chime would become all consuming. The same will apply to literally anything but OP is screwed as he just exposes everyone else to the revenge noise so sadly i do not think we will be getting any revenge updates unless he wants lynched by all the residents.

I have a program called Test Tone Generator which allows you to put out any frequency your speakers are capable of generating. It has something called a 'frequency sweep' which when used with a big subwoofer basically creates a small earthquake, neighbours dogs hate it.

Just to say Princey, I do feel very sorry for you. It is a sad fact that there are people out there who are this inconsiderate of others. I live in a terraced house but I always listen to music via headphones.

Been there had this. Lasted years. In the end I just couldn't take it anymore and it ended badly. Don't stay another 5 months forfeit your deposit and go. Best thing I ever did. Now I live in a quiet better area where it's almost too quiet. But after the nightmare I went through the quieter the better. One word of advice. The longer you suffer and get wound up the worse it gets. Don't just knock on the door once, hammer on it for ages till they have to come and answer it. Then explain how it's not on and it's annoying you etc. Don't be too polite be firm and reasonable.

Play him at his own game. Soon as he turns his off, turn yours on with a nice big subwoofer against the wall.

When he comes around, tell him you just got back from work and will be listening to your music for X hours.

I had a similar issue, living a detached house, kids screaming and people chilling out all day in the garden, People going in and out the house, was about 8 of them living in there with kids only 4 bed house, this was going on about 1 year i had enough as i just recently purchased the property lovely street just these idiots started to rent after a few months after I moved in. Council was paying for the rent which was over a £1000 pounds a month.

Sent them a letter don't think they understood it as they didn't speak much English. Spoke to the Landlord he tried to make them stop making so much noise, but still went on for ages, he didn't care much as long as the rent was paid. Then I raised this with the council for noise pollution they sent them a letter and advised me to keep a diary of the noise, but i was lucky in one night they left but i found out later they had been working and claiming benefits at the same time.

Best way is to hound the landlord and Council till they do something

Also forgot to mention try and find out if any other people are experiencing the same issue, get everybody to complain, more people complaining more pressure on council and landlord. My whole street was ****ed off with these tenants because its a very quiet street and you can even hear somebody open there car door, just don't give up !! I just got lucky and these people went in one night, think they got found out for claiming and working.

A mate of mine had a noisy neighbour who played head banging music all day - He cured it with 3ft length of 9x5 RSJ pushed against joining wall - put in ear plugs and ear protectors and used his SDS hammer drill with masonary bit in to try and drill holes in RSJ.

Soon stopped the music but they were owned houses.

I used 3x2 angle iron bolted to upstairs chimney breast - I did it when dog barked though. I did say to neighbours I will let you know every time dog barked. The were not amused to say least.

OP -I sympathise with you

Dave
