Try lifting the heat sink to check for good contact and then reseat.
I used the standoffs that came with the hg10 it was not clear in the instructions if they were needed.
Feel like I have just butchered my 1080.

Phew! Just changed the thermal paste and refitted max temp with overclock in firestrike ultra is now 64 c.
That sound reasonable with +150 on core and +400 on memory?
Dunno ,mate still seems a bit high
but to be fair I've only ever used EK on my cards, a run of FS ultra I Get around 50c
With voltages maxed and around +200 / +575
Got my Strix 1080 today and I can't believe how quick it is.
I play a few games but I do more video editing, timelapse rendering and video encoding than anything else. I've got a high spec machine but I've been holding out for a new graphics card for a while and was previously rocking a GTX 480
Once I installed the 1080 I tested a timelapse sequence to encode and it processed at 850fps!!! The best my 480 got was 80-100fps depending on the codec used. This thing is seriously quick! I've tested a few games and they're also smooth as silk, so much so, I may start playing games again!
You lucky bugger! . Where did you order it from? Im still waiting and in queue position 142 now...... Cant wait for my Christmas GPU to arrive!!
Got a Gigabyte FE coming tomorrow, let my ti and block go for a very silly price, oh well!.
I thought i wouldn't!, they got me again.
Ordered it through OCUK, but I was online ready to pounce at 14:00 when the cards went on sale.
I think I have found the problem.
I am using the HG10 mount, I read online that this worked fine with the gtx 1080 with a little mod. But one of the screws does not line up with the 1080, hence the bad connection with the card! Lesson to be learnt, don't believe everything you read online!
What should I do now? Putting that card back together is going to be virtually impossible.
Can anyone who previously had an ACX 2.0 card tell me how much cooler and quieter the ACX 3.0 cooler is on the 1080?
Boom made it
Now for the rest of the system coming Saturday
