My 1080 arrived this afternoon. Going from a 980 GTX, I take it I can just pop the old out and in with the new? No need to reinstall what is essentially the same drivers?

The Zotac fans are quite noisy... the founders edition, Gigabyte Windforce, EVGA ACX3.0 and Asus Strix are much quieter.

I did the same switching from 980 Ti's to 1080s on the latest drivers.

Just give the PC a couple of reboots to get the drivers working properly.

I wasn't on the latest drivers so 1080 wasn't detected. I just had to then uninstall/install new drivers. Maybe worth doing before swapping.

My MSI 1080 Gaming X arrives today - So i guess i join you lot...

This came from a need/want - my 290x was ageing and with HTC Vive also arriving i needed something to last me a good while. As after my wife gives birth i doubt i'll get away with many large purchases for a while.

I can't in anyway shape or form feel anything less than ripped off by the price though lol

£600 odd for a 980 replacement is insane.

Just a note I did this and the Nvidia Control Panel would not appear. So I did a reinstall of the same latest driver with perform clean installation ticked and it worked after that.

Assuming you got the stock score and OC score for the 980Ti back to front, otherwise that 980Ti is a poor clocker

Cross post from another thread on the GPU board but I thought to repost here. I'm now the proud owner of a new MSI Gaming X.

WOW. My goodness. Coming from a 570 SLI I can't even begin to express how insanely powerful this card is. The Witcher 3 used to make the room sound like it had a jet firing off somewhere, but with this 1080, max settings at 1440p, 60 FPS about 95% utilisation at ~1900MHz, temps around 65-70DC and the fans are as good as inaudible - 44% (may be biased coming from jet engine 570s). I played BF4 and the fans didn't even come on for the first 15 mins at max settings because it was barely utilising the card. Absolutely breathtaking. Worth every penny. Here I come, gaming!!

It isn't actually supported in any games yet, is it? It needs to be added in on a game by game basis and the Nvidia site still says it's coming soon.

Ah, that would make sense. Bit of a shame, was under the impression that the Witcher 3 would support it on release. Cheers though.
