Couldn't stand my 780 any more and the 480 wasn't going to be a meaningful upgrade, so...

img_20160629_1348291ks7m.jpg

Surprised at how huge the card itself is. Bigger and heavier than the MSI 780 Gaming that it replaced, despite that obviously requiring much more cooling. But then the fans on this run slower under full load than the ones on the 780 did at idle... :o

Anyone got the Gigabyte G1 Gaming Windforce 3x 1070?

Fan sounds like it's at 100% all the time, not sure what is causing this. It's quite loud to begin with but when I boot up a game it get's louder than my TV and stays that way until I restart. Makes me think something somewhere is causing it to sit on high fan speeds for no reason. Apparently the card is even supposed to shut it's fans off completely if under 60C, which I imagine it is as I type this on the desktop with nothing running.

Unigine Heaven all maxed couldn't even get the card about 52C, that's great! But it really does sound like the fans are going to burn out at this rate, it's basically a jet engine and that isn't what Windforce is. I remember upping the fan speed on my 670GTX Windforce just to see how loud it was, and this is louder when idle than that was at 100% for a few seconds.

Cheers.

Hey guys

Waited for the 480 launch but now decide to get a 1070. Any recommendations on what card to get?

I can only comment on what I have but the inno3d ichill x3 is fantastic so far. So quiet and a nice factory overclock as stock.

Very impressed with the build quality as well. Thing could be used as a weapon

Gigabyte is LOUD but UK RMA Centre - So loses points for sound but gains for RMA.

Asus is GOOD LOOKING and GOOD base clock, RMA's And Cost are a pain.

MSI Gaming X - GOOD Base Clocks, Probably one of the QUIETER GPUs - Fairly Expensive and RMA is questionable

EVGA - UK RMA IS A PLUS , FAIRLY EXPENSIVE. Issues with Stock and Recalls relating to an issue in manufacturing if some forums are to be believed - hence they still haven't made it in stock ANYWHERE in the UK.

Previously I was an EVGA Loyalist, but MSI seem to have upped their game. Of the known brands, the MSI is probably the pick of the bunch right now. The Inno3d card has also came back as a good card.

Right now, work out the following:

Brand you like, RMA requirements, Noise VS Cost.

You will have your winner.

I have a 1070 G1 and last night while gaming I was thinking how quite it was while playing Vermintide maxed out at 1080. When I looked at the card in the case the fan stop sign was lit up, which did surprise me as I had been playing it for about 1 hour. Though the cooling in my case was originally setup to cool a 7990.

Out of desperation after trying everything I've done a full system format and the problem is gone, but I'm yet to test it in a game. Fingers crossed.

Cheers, my PC will be in a different room so noise not a problem, think I'll get the MSI X, looks like it ticks the boxes.

I caved getting mine tomorrow :) Was sick of waiting around to see if prices drop.

Gone for the Msi Armour one be interesting to see how it performs with a i5 2500k. Would have gone for the gaming x one but would have looked naff in my case. Should be a big upgrade over a 2gb 770 least I am hoping so !

I think is mostly aesthetic and the Gaming has better construction (also likely to hold better value whenever you decide to sell it).

For 10£ I would just get the Gaming X.

Also if you buy it ask OCUK (guess you have to call them) to price match it to 415£, since it's available elsewhere for that price.

cheapest i can find the GeForce GTX 1070 GAMING X 8G is £330.

ive just ordered the armour of ocuk and if i could get the gaming for a little more i would however it doesnt seem possible now.

looking forward to getting my card now, been debating what to get for months now!:D
