anyone played games in 4k on 480?

Im thinking about changing my 7970 which is still doing fine in 4kin games Im playing.
due to 480s price I might give it a go.

thanks

Its a card aimed at 1080p and pushing into 1440p, i wouldnt think 4K is viable for this card to be honest.

i would not say the 480 is a 4k card but it should be better than the 7970, i guess it would not hurt to give it a go as the 480 is cheap enough to sell on if your not happy

Undervolting via Wattman while keeping stock clocks reduces power draw 33 watts in this test by Computer Base.

https://www.computerbase.de/2016-06...el_potenzial_fuer_undervoltage_bei_der_rx_480

I've done a couple of tests running at 1.0v rather than 1.1v in max state.
during heaven run, gpu-z said that max gpu power draw dropped from 128W to 105W. From eye-balling my meter on the wall socket the difference looked a little less from max of 213W to 197W.

I did have to bump the max frequency down 1% to get it stable in heaven.
Max temp went down from 82 to 80 and max fan went down from 1784 to 1654.

Heaven score went up however

yes undervolting can work wonders lower power draw more performance, more stable clocks and lower temperatures and fan speeds its nice when it works :)

someone posted on reddit hes playing on 4k with the rx 480 and can play anything without problems besides witcher 3

on high/medium settings with very good fps

i think high with a freesync monitor and around 35-40fps should be a very good experience :)

I am looking forward to the sapphire shower head edition
showering the user with performance :p

Black is Nitro: OcUK will be first, I ordered 2000 units yesterday direct with the owner of Sapphire. Nitro is black, 1x 8-pin, OC not yet confirmed but likely to be 1325-1350MHz out the box, runs much cooler, quieter and has really nice backplate.

Toxic is silver: These will come later, be clocked higher, silver and cost more, quite a bit more and be extremely short stocks, probably 1350-1375MHz clocks.

Are people still happy running reference cards long term? I've never run one before, always gone aftermarket.

Put me on the list for a black one!

If the nitro is sub £250 I may hold out, I presume the 1060 will have been released at that point too so it'll be nice to have a comparison of both.

Any idea of when they are due in? The Nitro sounds just right. Any hint on price???

Here are some initial benchmarks comparing my XFX 390x CC Core edition OC Vs. Saphire RX 480 for those interested. Very reasonable scores I think.

Nice iwll be interesting to see how the custom 480's perform against the OCd 390X etc... I will especially be looking forward to seeing the custom 480s in 1440p scenarios, i was holding til Vega but the itch is there to swap out my 290..
