Tonight I'll test my 1070 GameRock Premier, i'll post Firestrike Extreme results with:

Stock
Stock + Power Limit @ max (should make no difference)
Max core speed OC
Max core + memory

Any chance you could do standard firestrike too? I don't have extreme (do you have to pay for it?!) So would be nice to compare to my Gaming X :)

Did he?

Blimey, that is more expensive that i thought it would be.
Indeed.

NVIDIA will not undercut AMD and they also will not price it under 970, the 1060 shall go in the gap the 980 once was with similar performance at around 300 quid because that gives NVIDIA a good lineup as 970 and 960 shall remain for a few more months which fill the 220GBP and 150GBP gaps.
Doesn't shock me at all though. It was clear from the 1070 and 1080 that they were shifting everything up one price tier, so it's logical that the 1060 would be the 970's direct replacement in terms of launch pricing.

Spec wise the 1060 is half a 1080 so it looks like NVidia will be charging half the price which is around £300.

Hm, it is a shame that the 480 is so dissapointing. It isnt helping in driving prices down.

The 480's a decent card. It's just not the mindblowing, world-shaking landmark moment that people were unrealistically hyping it up to be. The 1060 will be no better. Even Nvidia's own no-doubt-exaggerated figures are only claiming a 15% performance lead over the stock 480. An extra £100+ for <=15% more performance paired with 25% less VRAM doesn't sound like a good deal to me. My prediction is that a custom 480 will look like a great buy a month from now, and also that it'll be comprehensively-outsold by the 1060 despite that. :D

Oh no doubt, and that is why the 480 needed to be better. Whilst i don't agree with it, the nvidia name sells more cards than the AMD name does and AMD needed to bring out a barnstormer of a card (something akin to the 4850/4870 release) that made the 1070 look less attractive in it's price point ( not saying it needed to be as fast, just closer and more efficeint etc).

At the moment it is ~390 performance at ~390 price but with the same if not more power draw than the 1070 which just makes it kind of average.

very nice, I really like MSI these days, think theyre my top ones now :p

Thanks yoyo. I swapped it from the Zotac AMP card as OcUK delivery got held up. This card however doesn't disappoint.

Sorry to go a bit off topic, however had a few issues when I first installed it, seemingly not actually to do with the card.

I had to update my BIOS as it wouldn't be recognized in Windows. Updated my Overclock in BIOS back to 4.4Ghz and 1.25vcore and run Heaven and it crashed to a "clock_watchdod_timeout" error. Found this to seemingly be related to either CPU or bad Driver. Took my overclock back down from 4.4Ghz to 3.8Ghz (turbo) w/1.1vcore, things seem fine in Heaven (2375 score & 90+fps) & AIDA64 stress test doesn't crash it either. So will continue to investigate overclock on CPU as changing the BIOS seems to have made the overclock unstable. Anyone else heard of this?

Things like updating the BIOS (or even drivers) can definetly make a previously-rock solid overclock unstable. It shouldn't require major tweaking though. Maybe a slight voltage bump on the core or something to get back to where you were.

Got my Palit 1070 through the door today, it's great.

EUj4NNi.jpg

It's quite the thick card however!

hPFopLh.jpg

It works pretty well in the case however and the performance has been great so far.

All in all, a pretty solid upgrade from my 270x, if anyone else is planning on an upgrade from a similar card, here's what the upgrade did for me, just with random benchmarks I had on my PC.
Everything on ultra at 1920x1080, Firestrike, SteamVR and RE6 benchmarks all using scores instead of FPS.

Looks great! Was that at stock?

Would be interesting to see how it overclocks if you are planning on it? And a firestrike standard GPU score overclocked too if you do ;)

Yep, stock 6600k as well, basically fresh out the box and playing. I haven't planned on overclocking because it's more than meeting my needs so far, plus the boost clock is significant. It regularly sits around 1980mhz, have seen it breaking the 2000mhz barrier a few times as well.

Having fun with GameRock premium, 2k out of the box and went through a firestrike extreme without going past 63 degrees with a dumb +100 on the core (so it's fine @ 2100 Mhz too - no added voltage).

Going to test some more before writing a proper post. Anyway it's what we knew: bulky and tacky, but with binned chips and super quiet.

While this is my 5k with a 980Ti, which doesn't seem reachable.
