Caved in and got a 1080:

Quite possibly the most pointless upgrade I've ever made as my 980ti wasn't struggling at all, but I have a 6 week holiday and I didn't think I'd be able fight off the upgrade itch.

Design of the card is horrendous (what were they thinking?!), but the cooler itself is an absolute beast. My MSI 980ti Gaming 6G was idling around 47C in this hot whether and reaching 83C under full load. This idles at 43C and goes to 74C under full load and with the same ambient temps. The fan stops completely at idle, but even when it ramped up to 50% under load, I still couldn't hear anything. Card seems to boost automatically to 2037, which is pretty impressive given the temps.

Performance is nothing spectacular over the 980 ti, but I've only tried Firestrike (standard) and that went from around 15400 to 19300.

Next I will play some games and turn off the stupid green lit Palit logo. Seriously, who the hell designs these Palit cards?

What are the effects of high dpc latency? I'm on the 368.81 drivers and haven't noticed anything unusual.

I like the look of the Zotac, except for the 'Push The Limit' logo. Is that removable? I have seen images where that isn't on the card.

Pretty certain it's not removable. The card you're referring to is a different model not available in the UK.

Thinking of getting my wife to grab me a 1080 while in the USA. Will be watercooling with EK fullcover. I have my eye on a Strix OC. Any reason not to go for that particular card?

No warranty if you watercool it, more expensive for a cooler that you won't use & Asus won't give you international warranty.

Buy EVGA Founders Edition... then you can use the warranty over here without having to ship it to USA if you need to and they allow cooler removal.

Palit I would imagine. But you can change the colour or turn it off in their software.
