What settings are you using? Since the Legion patch they have adjusted the graphics settings to a slider bar which goes up to 10. The old Ultra settings are actually 7 so if you're using anything above that expect lower frame rates. With my 1070 at 2.1ghz and a 6600K at 4.5ghz I still get drops to around 30 fps at 1440p 2xMSAA with the graphics slider at 10 when doing the Legion invasions with lots of people and spells etc. You take a massive performance hit for not a lot of extra graphics quality. I've dropped back to 7 and just moved the view distance back up to 10 and now only drop to around 50fps instead which is much nicer :)

The game is still pretty poorly optimised though when other games sail along at 100fps+ and look a lot better! I guess it is pretty old these days though so you can't expect too much.

Nah it's not right at all dude. You should be able to max everything with ease on a 1070. It's not graphically taxing, it's CPU intensive. I can't even get 60fps in my garrison with everything maxed out and even dropping the settings right down keeps the card under strain. Things are definitely not right.

Got my Palit Super Jetstream today but haven't had a chance to really test it out yet. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good guide on how to overclock Pascal cards as i know its meant to be a bit different from Maxwell.

Thanks

I see that with the TWO (this week only) offers, a few more 1070's seem to be under £400 18 of them in fact, with only 3 of them being founders editions. Is this indicating a very slight downward trend on price? (more of a stabilization really seeing as the AIB cards should be cheaper than the founders editions anyway.)

Looking at the MSI gaming, it was £470 then it crept down to £430 now on offer at £420. definitely seems like a downward trend there.

Noticed the same, I am patiently waiting for a bit more...

Have recently built myself a new system that includes a GTX1070 (Palit Super Jetstream) and an I5 6600k - really enjoying getting back into PC Gaming. My old PC was a GTX470 and a Q8200, so the difference in performance is very substantial. Looking to get a Vive in time to come as well!

I'm really impressed how cool and quiet the 1070 runs - doesn't seem to get stressed at all, even when playing some games at 4k (albeit with some details turned down).

I'll have to dig out the box from the garage and get on the roll of honour!

I am getting a 5 - 8 second black screen on power up before windows loads any bios settings that might help. Gonna do a clean install next week as previously had an AMD card in.

Best to clean install with the card in or out ?

My username has been the same since the day I signed up for the forums. Other people have made the major mistake of asking for a name change in GD which is basically putting themselves at the mercy of the rest of the forum plus our twisted mods. :D:D:D

lol.

As it is the norm, I don't mind if mod's change my handle to PastySmasher if they want. lol

When people say that their card boosts to a certain speed out of the box what benchmark are they using to test and does it maintain the boost for a long period of time or does it drop off as the temperature increases?

I've been looking at what it does through a run of heaven benchmark. Mine is fairly stable but not entirely - once it hits the target temperature it sometimes drops back a speed bin due to "power limit" - not sure why it never does it below the target temperature and why the reason is power limit and not temperature.

It does drop. Mine boosts to 2038 then drops to 2000 over a short time while playing doom with about 40% fan speed. Temps are 57 to 60 with a solid 2K boost. This is with everything at stock with a custom fan profile which is silent under gaming pretty much.

I seem to get better overclocks with MSI Afterburner than EVGA PrecisionX.. Did on 780 and now 1070.

Can anyone post their 3dmark results(demo) here? I have this below atm, EVGA FTW, 118+ Core/600 Memory

Mine boosts to 2012mhz but then drops back to 2000mhz but at less than 35 degrees C this is nothing to do with temperatures. Strangely, when it's overclocked and under load it holds the same clockspeed (2114mhz) all the time and even goes to 2126mhz for a while. This is in benchmarks and while gaming.

just wondering if any one knows if the Palit GeForce GTX 1070 Dual 8GB GDDR5 uses a reference board with custom cooler like the EVGA ones?

cant find an image of the board anywhere or details on it.

cheers

That's similar to mine at stock (5695) but I have a 4670k which probably accounts for the difference. Overclocked I get 6058, Graphics 6760, Graphics test 1 44.02fps, Graphics test 2 38.79fps, CPU test 3815, CPU test 12.82fps. Our overclocked graphics scores are similar so that's about right.
