I have no idea. Just because it takes a reference block doesn't mean it's a completely reference pcb. My Inno3D for example takes a reference block but it has extra chokes when compared to a reference card. Maybe EVGA has done a simialr thing and tweaked the design.

Not much overclocking to be done with these 1070's shove 100 mhz on it and it'll still downclock anyways, Tried the EVGA slave bios where it allows for 122+ power limit nothing much different.

Just going to leave it at 110mhz core + 550 memory I think pittance after that.

I found a sweet spot for my card which allows me to game with low fan speed and keep core at 2050MHz. No need for extra volts or anything :)

I've not had too much problem with mine down clocking - though on the default BIOS it will drop to around 2025MHz or so at some point or other due to power limits regardless.

I installed my new 1070 Amp Extreme and my initial impressions are positive.

Firstly, it's huge and absolutely massive. Good thing I have a case that easily fits it.

It's very quiet when gaming, my 7970 used to sound like an aeroplane taking off. It was sitting at 61C and the fan was at 20-30%.

Very happy and will give it more testing over the weekend.

Tried Witcher 3/DA3/GTA 5/DOOM 4/AC Syndicate so far, all seem 20-40fps higher than my 970...lovely card so far, 60c highest temp I seen and that was 2 hours of GTA 5 maxed with 4XMSAA 1440P

Based on a couple of posts on here and other forums I tried overclocking with EVGA Precision instead of Afterburner and got my core overclock a little higher. It's gone from 2114mhz to 2152mhz with the same memory overclock as Afterburner at 4957mhz (9914mhz). That is my lot now though as I keep hitting the power limit. Pretty pleased with that.

I tried Precision last night as well :) Didn't manage anything extra over Afterburner though :( MSI Gaming X here and 2125mhz max before temps rise and the boost settles around 2050mhz on the stock fan profile.

So even with the 980ti on offer for £320.. I kinda went in for the EVGA FTW 1070. Sorta needed the card tomorrow but missed the cut-off. Called up OCUK, the first lad I spoke to told me adamantly no and will get it on Monday even after paying 16quid for delivery. The next guy I spoke to - Rich I believe his name was; was superb! manually added it for delivery tomorrow for me. Legend!

Can't wait to check it out... now I'm considering upgrading my I5 2500k.....

How is your card now? I had this happen to me as well. Browsing this forum, then when I switch tabs the screen gets those corrupt multicolour squares, if I switch to another tab and switch back the corruption is gone.

It hasn't happened in any games yet though? It has only happened while browsing. Is the card faulty?

The very latest nVidia drivers seem to be causing some desktop corruption issues with the 1000 series cards for some if you are using them - but they were released after he posted about his issues IIRC.

Yeah next upgrade for me is a monitor or cpu/ram/mobo, On 2500k too.

I have the latest drivers, but from what I read the drivers are causing flickering, not corruption? Must check out the GeForce forums.

Gigabyte GTX 1070 Mini ITX OC

Just received my Gigabyte GTX 1070 Mini ITX OC from OverClockersUK, upgrading from my trusty ASUS GTX 970 Mini as I purchased an ultra wide monitor (3440x1440) and the 970 was struggling to keep up. It's very early days but so far am impressed by this little package in particular how cool it runs, a good 10 degrees lower than the 970 while folding. It is also very quiet, about same as the 970 and I'm not detecting any coil wine at all (didn't have any with the 970 either).

Anyway a couple of photos, top one is side by side comparison with my old 970, bottom one is just the back for anybody that maybe interested. You will notice the SLI bridge slots which I was suprised to see there, not sure why I was as they should all have it but guess I thought nobody would SLI the ITX version.

The card has three modes -> Gaming Mode - 1531/1721; OC Mode - 1556/1746; Eco Mode - 1507/1697. You need to download the, not very good, Xtreme Gaming software to access these and I noticed as soon as you quit the software it reverts to Gaming Mode so all the tests below are in Gaming mode. I haven't had chance to mess with this any further or try the other manufactures OC utils.

Some results from testing, please note I just ran these with no attempt to optimise anything and the benches are single runs. I was initially more interested in how it performed against my old GPU under the same set-up than getting the perfect score:

Folding -> PPD 640,552 (9704), temp while folding 69C, Fan on Auto 2025RPM, ~10C cooler than the ASUS 970. Difficult to get exact speed up but it is around x1.8 faster.
Firestrike -> 15238 vs. 9984 for 970 [x1.5] (same CPU, mem, motherboard etc...)
Firestrike Extreme -> 8035 vs. 4942 for 970 [x1.6] (same set-up)
Firestike Ultra -> 4290 vs. 2548 for 970 [x1.7] (same set-up)
Timespy -> 5773 vs. 3445 [x1.7] (same set-up)
Valley Benchmark 1.0 (Extreme) -> FPS 114.8, Score 4804
Valley Benchmark 1.0 (Extreme HD) -> FPS 92.8, Score 3884
Heaven Benchmark 4.0 (Extreme) -> FPS 116.9, Score 2945
