Last I saw you was very happy with your Nana which as far I can remember you have had for 12 months or less. What happened?

If Vega lives to my expectations, it will be close to a Titan P and if not priced ridiculously, I will get one

Over the years I owned both NV and AMD/ATI in balance.

Watercooled Nano is absolutely superb (7 months old), however I do not go on holidays this September since my contract got renewed, went and bought a GTX1080 and an EK block as 40th birthday present

Ofc when Vega comes out, I will grab the first one that will be produced by an AIB

while patiently waiting the Samsung 34 CF791 also.

And I am not of those who believe that will burn in Hell for eternity when switching GPU brand

(I am on the 4th Intel CPU since 1992, the rest 15 were AMD and 1 Cyrix).

Be careful only on the VRM pads (the small ones, size 1). Some of the VRMs do not want to be cooled :eek:

, so you have to be extra careful when you tip around the card to screw it, not to lose any of them.

I propose as you fit the card put couple of screws on, before you tip it over to put the rest.

And when you complete the work, check with a flashlight to the opposite direction of your eye to see that all pads make contact with the block.

At the top of this page I have the build log with photos in the spoiler.

According to the EK the block that is half the size of the card is the correct one for MSI Armor OC, Gaming X and Gaming Z. (at least that's the one proposed by their configurator).

Because there are some electronics that had padding with the initial block, I put an Akasa Apache blowing air on them. But they do not get warm.

Saying that managed to find the card's limit tonight at 2164 core speed constant. (no spiking).
And pulled off GPU score 8255 at the Spy

Shame the CPU is not helping to break the 8000 general score mark :/

Here are my settings if you want to try after the watercooling.

I love it, back plate seem a slight bend in it like its been in a case for years through sagging.

What sort of boost do you get with that classy? Loved my 980ti classy but opted for the Zotac Amp extreme for my 1080, been very impressed. EVGA let themselves down big style with the 1080 launch.

All you need to do is put a small dot of thermal paste on them before applying the pads, its both recommended to improve heat transfer and while doing so sticks the pads on...

Mine boosts to 2050. the comments I posted above to Kaapstad relate to the Classified.

Review of Gigabyte GTX 1080 xtreme premium pack edition

I went from a 7970 to this. Primary use is VR on my HTC Vive and FPS og RPG games.

I have hat the card for five days now. It sits nicely in my machine. Not a beautiful card, but I looks cool and the LED is ok. The choice for me was between ASUS ROG GTX 1080 STRIC OC and this one, I have both at home, the Asus is a more beautiful card, but the Asus are going back, because:

The Gigabyte is absolutely quit, the fans stops all together when load is small. Even in some games, the fans are idel. I can confirm all the test online, that this card runs cooler then the Asus. And whit N’vidia new thermal throttling 3, cooler = faster! The Xreme was constantly 2-3 degrees cooler then the Strix. Both in OC mode. This gave 15-25 frames extra consistently at 1080p, and 3-8 extras at 1440p.
At the same time, Xtreme was stabel at 2000 mhz, while the Strix throttles back down more often.

The ekstra hdmi ports on the front is perfekt for VR, one for the HTV Vive and one for the television, so others can see what happens in game.

The software package is OK, but doesn’t always make sense. F.eks. the quick OC button is under advanced settings!!! The thermal, load ect. screen is not obvious placed and there are no in game info optins like MSI afterburner has.

ALL in ALL bye the card if you won’t a fast, silent GTX 1080, especially if it’s going to be just in VR.

I’m keeping mine.
