So which is the best value 1070 at the moment?

Thinking of picking one up soon as people are still being unrealistic with what they want for a second hand 980ti.

May as well get a 1070 for a few quid more :)

its nuts they actually are looking for brand new prices and above on second hand cards.

I picked up the Gainward Dual fan GTX 1070 for £350. Can't argue with that price tbh, performs around old Titan X and uses very little power to do it.

I can live with this price tag too, the GTX 1080 price point left me with buyers remorse, especially since I'm only at 1080P/1440P. I sold that one soon after buying lol.

I was looking at the gainward for this price. Would be very interested in how it performs and the general build quality and noise output.

In my experience in actual gameplay the 1070 is running quite a bit faster than the Maxwell Titan X in a good few titles (especially a lot of the stuff I actually play) as well as being atleast as fast in anything else.

Just ordered a MSI 1070 Gaming X 8G, from overclockers.
First Nvidia card ever, and cant wait to get my hands on it. :)

Great card and I advise you to try out a few different drivers if you notice any issues. I had a scare thinking my card was done for but it turned out to be a driver issue. :)

Hi there, got a parcel from Overclockers today(nice one on the delivery guys, i thought i'd missed the cut-off point) containing 2 new cards :D

One for me and one for the missus, i got the Asus Strix oc 1070, and she went for the Zotac amp extreme 1070........it's like an early christmas :)

I'm upgrading from a 280x toxic and she's upgrading from a 7970 ghz vapor-x, i'm using a 2,560×1,440 Asus MG278Q, so i'm really looking forward to this boost, she's still on 1080p, but it's an Asus 144hz monitor, so being a witcher fan, she's looking forward to cranking those details up :)

I'll show you some phone pics first and then maybe talk about my opinions of the cards since i can easily compare them.

So, after seeing both the cards i can say that just on appearances alone, the the Zotac card looks and feels like the more premium card.
The card is big and solid, and will cover 3 slots pretty much, but it really does look and feel great quality, for those with sag concerns only time will tell, but if it's secured with a screw as well it should be fine ;)
I was watching her play the witcher earlier with her oohing and ahhing at details she'd never seen before, i was also watching the fans on the gpu, and they were kinda stopping and starting, great feature btw, but very disconcerting for someone coming from constant fan action on a gpu lol, i asked her to stick it off and check the temps, which never got over 64 degrees, so as far as the Zotac is concerned it's a big thumbs up

Now for the Strix, well she's lovely, i have a maximus VIII formula, so it is right at home, and i can control the aura lighting with a seperate graphics AURA program (would maybe be nice if they had an all in one prog that could do mobo and gpu rgb changes, but not sure it's even possible tbh).
It's obviously a good bit lighter than the Zotac, and for a £50 premium over the Zotac i would really expect a metal shroud rather than plastic, but nonetheless it still looks amazing, it's also a lot thinner than the Zotac and only has one 8 pin connector on it as oppose to 2 on the Zotac, from what i've read though that shouldn't make much if any difference anyway.
Not had a chance to play any games on the Strix yet, but it's sitting at 30 degrees idle at the moment, so thats pretty damn good.

I'll maybe revisit this post to add a little info on clocks etc once we've both tried more games.

tldr: we both love our new cards :D

Hi Davanius, and thanks for the kind words.
Could you please expand, on the kind of issue's you had?

Personally I am more worried about the 1070 posting on my old system.
Thankfully I secured a beta Bios update for my ageing motherboard Asrock z68 extreme4 gen3,
but will leave it as a last resort, if all else fails too work.

This is awesome, my old Titan X was a beast. If this is faster and @ £350 that's pretty good value tbh. Looking forward to testing my 1070 out. It's coming Monday, yeah boi xD

Please can someone help me out with a very frustrating issue i'm having. I've just received my Inno3D 1070 iChill today after recieving a faulty zotac 980i from the sale last week, artifacts everywhere.

I've installed this 1070 today and straight away noticed an incredibly annoying problem whereby the mouse and keyboard hang for about 2 seconds every 30 seconds. I'll be typing and it will suddenly either stop accepting key entry or repeat a character 10+ times, or the mouse will stop moving and suddenly be on the other side of the screen.

Never had this problem until i've installed this card today, tried completely removing nvidia drivers, running ddu in safe mode to remove all old nvidia/amd/intel drivers and reinstalling, in fact, even in safe mode with no drivers running, it is still doing it. chipset drivers are upto date.

I have absolutely no idea why, can anyone shed any light? Please god tell me its not another faulty card, im down £810 so far and still no fully working graphics card. Awaiting testing/refund from the 980ti and I had to order a replacement in the meantime...

Good idea to have the latest bios ready. I too am still on a z68 platform and didn't have any trouble installing the card.

Clean out the old drivers after un-installing them with a program called ddu.

Use that program in windows safe mode. You should be good to go.

There are a few small niggles. Coming from an amd card I though that the text wasn't as clear and the colors wasn't as vivid.

The gpu clock won't down clock to 215mhz when using 144hz. And lastly, I was getting texture corruption with the latest driver but I checked on another card to find the same problem.

Other than that, the card is great. :)

Just installed my palit game works 1070 and sorted sorted the overclock out. Stable on stock volts at 2150 on the core and so far at 9300mhz on the vram. Temps at 66c with the fan speed at 34%.

Just ran two benchmarks on Batman: Origins

I know I'm supposed to run it three times each but thought I'd throw up a quick try. No issues this time round, no textures popping on either test.

Zotac Amp

Stock @ 1987 mhz:
Min: 57
Max: 136
Avg: 93

OC - 2100mhz core (+140)
Min: 61
Max: 136
Avg: 93

Edit: This is with PhysX on and the nvidia aa options, since this I've turned physx off and changed it to msaa x4 and the results are around min 150, max 360 :)

Max temps: 61c for both tests, fan speed at 45-50 - Custom set though, not tried to get it lower yet as I dont have the time.

I really feel like this could hit 2200mhz core but I'm not sure, the issue is my 1070 is voltage locked so that could just be a dream :(

I left the memory as is for now, just on a break at work, might give it a try but I don't think its going to give much of an increase tbh.

Edit:
Turns out that I get artifacts at +160 and with no voltage control I can't do anything about that as it's only using 70% power so no need to bump the power slider up, right?

Ran some The Division benchmarks though. Ran twice on stock and twice oc. Same result each time. 65c max temp .

Stock: 79 avg fps
OC: 85 avg fps

All on ultra preset with vsync off. All tests are 1080p

Guess I'll be moving to the memory after all... sadly I can't wait to finish my night shift haha!
