Hi everyone,

I had a day off as it was bank holiday yesterday. I took the opportunity of grabbing some shots of the various happenings at this years Carnival.

At times I got really drenched but I wanted pictures so covered up my camera with a jumper and snapped away whilst getting drenched in just my t-shirt and cord trousers!

Salsa Dancers

I got loads of pictures of these two dancers. I could not decide what my favourite ones were.

Parade

One of the several shots I got from the parade that went across town and from the main park.

Parade 2

Another shot from the parade.

Reeper from the now four strong Blazin'Squad.

All photos were taken with my 75-300mm lens. A couple were taken with my 50mm.

Loads more on my web site:

All in all, it was a good afternoon. I did, however, run out of space a couple of times on my 1gb memory card...So I *do* need to buy some more memory cards!

I need to also add a feature to my web site at some point too.

I like number 2, great shot there. I know it's not a major feature of your photo's but I don't know why you use an aliased font like that to use on your copyrighting, as well as on your website where you use it - it really doesn't look modern at all.

sorry, but none of them does anything for me. If you want to show off the dancers, best to have the entire body there with them showing the moves. Just the head shots could be anyone, same as all the other pictures, there's a lot of chest and above shots which doesn't really do anything for me. You need to put a context into the picture, put people in their element to allow the photograph to tell a story. Since you are not doing a portrait of them, its a festivals set.

At least you started to take pictures head on now, no more of just the back of their head business. :D

Cheers for the comments and critique guys;

RandomTom - I guess I could do with changing the way I copyright notice my photos...I may be much better off changing the canvas size and putting one on the outside of the picture...although that is what everyone else does!

Raymond Lin, I did not think of just getting the dance moves to be honest, I suppose part of the reason was, the background was not very nice either..there were brown and grey walls and so on...but hopefully next year I would have learned a lot more about taking photos!
