The hardest thing was the wait for it's arrival, i even tought on changing my order because of that.
But now it's here and it's superb so that's all that matters.

Sure did. I was so desperate, but it was worth the waiting. Backlight bleed is minimal, ZERO dead pixels.

Arrived today, no dead pixels. Back light bleed, not too bad. Image, excellent after a bit of fiddling about, the software is very good. Build quality, miles better than the Acer 22". Very solid, nice adjustable height/tilt stand. Side viewing, after 45 degs it fades a bit, good from above, bad from below. Overall, not bad for £306.

Those viewing angles look really good. Anyone tried an Xbox 360 on one yet? or found out if it has 1:1 pixel mapping?

the leads are twisted coz it hasn't been set-up correctly, the thick silver edge on the base of the stand should be facing backwards, not forwards. The stand is reversed.

Screens looks very nice, but what's with the giant icons, using it lower than native res?

Just on the 16.2/16.7 M colour thing, a manufacturer can say a screen 'supports 16.7M colour' simply because you can set your PC to 32-bit display depth when using it. It doesn't necessarily mean it displays 16.7 M colours. Loads of TN panels are sold as 16.7M colour, and have been for years, when they only display 16.2M. It's a technicality to be aware of. Viewing angles are the biggest giveaway of panel type. 160/160 will be TN.

However TN viewing angles seem to be a good bit better now than they were a few years ago, as can be seen with this Samsung and the LG L204WT.

Nice one clevercloggs if you did that it fall over. The base does not come off to face backwards, silly, it does have a swivel on the very bottom.

They're not twisted, I'd just plugged it in and put the cable down the wrong side. They do tuck up a bit, but still hang down, there is no where to run them but out the back.

Lol, I'd just unplugged a CRT at 19x10, where due to failing (age) eyesight I used large icons.

It looks like your on the inside of a Christmas Present

Monitor Def looks pretty cool now ; im just undecided as too which one i should purchase - keep my loyalty with the viewsonic one or go for the above??? :confused:

All those ones with dead pixels and the chunky/shiny bezel put me off. The Acer is horrid, I sent it back. And this has HDCP, which is nice.

The SM225BW has the wow factor with the extra size, the LG is a bargain at £215, and the Philips has the MVA panel. Gonna be really hard to choose.

I was using a dual screen setup with two 17" screen last week and the size really blew me away (gaming at 2560*1024 on both screens) so the extra 2" of the Samsung is very appealing. I've owned three Samsung TFTs too and they've been high quality screens.

From all the people i know that have this monitor (at least fifteen) none has had any complaints about dead pixels. Check the Viewsonic thread and compare.
You will most likely get a bad one.

The Samsung has HDCP support, height adjustment, you name it. Im very happy with mine.

I have a picture request if you don't mind a bit more camera work? I was wondering if you could take a shot with a single colour on the whole screen. Easiest way to do that would be to set the wallpaper to none and minimize the tasbar (desktop icons aren't a problem). I just want to compare a sinlge colour (blue would be ideal) at the top and bottom of the screen from straight on.

And if you could also take a shot from high above, say 70-80 degrees, with the clouds wallpaper?

As you can guess it's the viewing angles I'm interested in. If you could I'd really appreciate it. If you don't get round to it though, that's no problem
