Tempted to get an M5 on finance

When you are making stuff up to sound amazing on the interweb.

Actually you'd be surprised. I know a few people with enough money to make me suitably envious who haven't got a clue what to do with it and, in some cases, where it all came from! They take the advice of others (often me) and it gets them by. One such person bought a Phaeton.... brand new against my advice then literally 6 months later was moaning to me about the depreciation.

I agree, I have a friend who if you spoke to him at first you would think he is an idiot, he has no common sense. For example when learning to drive the instructor told him to go right at a roundabout so he did exactly that, he was on the wrong side of the island before the instructor managed to stop the car. The funny thing is he has an IQ over 170 and graduated from Cambridge with a 1st class honours. Doesn't have a clue about cars yet is getting a 911 as he likes the look of them and he still hasn't past his test yet.

Just a quick check, you are 27 yes?
Yeah, been working with ultralife since I was 23, started as a manufacturing engineer, 6 promotions later I got the role of General manager, which is over both our abbingdon and newark branches.
Pays me £127k a year.
Yes its been luck, the first day I came into the job the CEO came over from newark and he loved me so that helped.

Just because I have that kind of money, doesn't mean I want to spend all of it. dig? I mean, me and my missus are trying for a kid, gonna cost us a bit.
And if the warrenty covers me, thats great.

I don't know about money because it's not my thing, all I know is it goes in my bank, direct debit pays the bills, whatever else comes out the cash machine.

I hate you.

I saved for my 330d, just because i'm largely against debt. Never even had a student loan or a credit card.
But I don't wanna save for this, i've decided it'll take too long.

I'd get a reproduction GT-500 if there wasn't a 6 month waiting list and the insurance wasn't so high.

Sorry but you really don't sound like someone who has money, you have concerns about the wrong things......

Also 6 major promotions in a handful of years, give over.

someone is going to ask for a copy of your payslip soon

I've also noticed that no one ever mentions any mercs in this forum even as suggestions, are they really that bad compared to bmw?

Don't think people like them as much now, due to poor build quality of some.

If this guy is getting 127k a year. Buying an M5 or even an RS4 is no problem. Unless you're very skingy and could do much better with the money. I wouldn't finance, I'd buy straight up, even if it's second hand.

I agree i'm not the stereotypical bloke who earns six figures, theres a word for that, well several. But i'd be banned for saying them.
I care about my happiness, I aint happy if i'm skint, i'll spend my money freely on small things but there comes a point when I wanna know if it's a good idea to get into a large amount of debt for a car.

After tax I get around 6.7k a month.

Well, imo, no, unless you are so rich money isn't a concern, then it isn't worth getting into debt for a car. There are a ton of cars you could buy outright that would give you tons of fun and not cost the earth.

Its only a problem if you can't comfortably afford to pay it back. There is such a good thing as good debt.

However your lack of common sense, fiscal sense, and even motoring sense* still makes me feel somewhat in doubt of this whole storytale.

*see, he proved it below.
