Ah I was actually wondering the same as I'm still running an X1800XT

Edit: After looking at the comparison charts on Toms hardware there's almost no difference between these cards so I'll stick with what I have for the time being.

Same here, i bought an x1800xt 256mb saphire card when ocuk were flogging them off really cheap. Still looking for a reason to upgrade but the card is still going strong :p

What is an x1800xt worth now 2nd hand? If i were to sell it to put money towards something else?

I bought one of these cards and I am generally happy with it. The only fly in the ointment is that when I run the Windows Experience Index it gives me a score of 1 for both Graphics and Gaming Graphics. It runs the aero interface and plays games ok. Any ideas ?
I am waiting for my copy of XP from an auction site, so I installed Vista as a temp measure. I have not connected to the internet so I have not downloaded any updates.

Thanks

Duncan

Have you clicked on update my score after installing the card?

Yes I reinstalled drivers etc and reran the tests. Its allowing me to run aero, which I think. requires a graphic score of 3.
Is it possible to get a reading for the temp and fan speed on this card?

Thanks

Duncan

I have just ordered one of these for my new build. Hopefully it will tide me over until the next generation of DX10 cards hits the shelves.

I had originally ordered a BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC2 but changed my mind - I just couldn't justify spending nearly 4 ton on a card that might very well be obsolete in a few months time.

would have been wasted with the spec in sig, unless you were going for a full upgrade.

Agreed, not to mention the fact that it wouldn't have fitted... the A8V is an AGP board ;).

My new sig is gonna be:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 | Asus P5K Deluxe | 2GB Corsair PC2-8500C5 Dominator | OcUK Radeon X1950 Pro | Audigy 2 ZS | ViewSonic VP201b | 74GB Raptor | 160GB Deskstar | Plextor PX-712A | Enermax Infiniti 720W | Antec P182

Just didn't want to tempt fate by updating it before the new rig is up and running.

Sid, thats an amazing score. You should post something up in the 06 benchmark thread

Managed an incredible 650/1500 and benched 3dmark05 at 10667

Is that any good for e4300 at 2.4ghz, 2gb ddr667.

Just tried myself and got 10099 3dmark05 at stock speeds, 574/1188 &3.4ghz conroe - 2gb ddr566

Theres the one I recieved last week. Real nice card.

But...

Artic Cooling Accelero X2's dont fit! Hopefully OcUK will let me RMA it for a different model. Can anyone suggest an after market quiet cooler that does fit?

Its not too bad, the rest of my system is pretty silent though, so it really stands out as being the loud component. As with any small fan, it can be whiney. I think it can be controlled by some ATi software though to turn it down a bit.

Your stock speeds are weird?

Oh wait sorry you have x1950pro , I have a x1950GT,

I haven't run 3dmark06 on it yet. couldn't manage to finish the benchmark at 3ghz either.

^^ Didnt realise you were on a GT, what timings do you have

On a quiet system the card is loud yes but its only a bit above average really.
You dont need an aftermarket system just use a manual fan controller, it cannot be software controlled since there is no speed sensor wire on the fan and no temp sensor even.
The card has no voltage adjustment and its running 3D timings permantly but you can just alter fan speed manually and the card is running so cool its really no bother.
Its something I used to do with 5 year old cards, so I was quite surprised that its nessecery on something this new/powerfull but its no problem really.

Does anyone know if the PWM is analog (cheaper) on this card, I read they run cooler which would explain things

What do you mean what timings?

I tried 3ghz 630/735 and got 10927 so looks like 650/1500 will be an easy 11k.

That is actually quite a bit better than my pc now.

Just got one of these cards through the post, the box is a bit battered the driver cd is out of its holder and there's no crossfire connection, is it normal not to get a crossfire connection piece with OC card? Have i got a 2nd hand card hmmmmm

EDIT

Just had a look at the cd again and it has scratches and fingerprints on it, I am not impressed :(

RMA it I think....

Bad show Overclockers.....................................

The Jetway one ? Nope, no crossfire cable and no dvi adapter because it has both ports I guess. 1x molex splitter for the power & a s-video cable.

Does this card do vivo and has anyone actually seen if it does crossfire ok..

lol, are you sure thats not your fingerprints. So long as it works who cares, the driver cd isnt needed anyway

I dont mind receiving a used piece of hardware just as long as it states that the item is used but I'm paying for something new I'm so annoooooyed....

Not my fingerprints and certainly not my scratches, I know the cd's useless but it does give the game away that there are used elements in this package and if the cd's used what about the card... i've asked for a RMA number...

Just ordered one of these having found that Bioshock wont work on my trusty old GTO2 unlocked to an X850.

How much leeway does the memory have? Have people managed to get a few extra MHz out of it?

Dont expect this card to overclock, its a real stick in the mud. Ive no idea why but it really doesnt seem the best choice for that kind of thing.

I looked around and saw a few bits and bobs but some guide written in russian about which bits to mod is too obscure for me. Seems best to go with the flow and just run this card at stock and enjoy what you get, just needs a fan controller imo and its perfect

If you check the 06 scores thread you can see my best attempt with no hard mods, I wont be actually using any overclock myself though.

Still I'd be interested if anyone manages something with fitted ramsinks, etc

HI there

Was this a Triplex card? If so we only had our first delivery ever of these arrive literally a couple of days ago, so impossible for such a thing to happen unless the cards shipped to ourselves have come in this state which of course we shall investigate.

In the meantime do request an RMA and we will get it swapped out, I shall also randomly check some of our stock to make sure all is well.
