Hiya Guys

Ok, never overclocked before, its all new to me, so popped in to see if firstly anyone has the same MoBo/CPU Combo as me, as if they have, and there overclocked, would be a good place to start with there settings ;)

I have the Intel i7 CPU 2600k flavour, and its in an Asus P8z68-V LX Motherboard

The ram is Patriot Memory 4GB PC3-10600 PSD34G13332H and I have 4 x 4GB sticks

Im going to be cooling the CPU with the Corsair H100i system, and its got a push/pull system using Scythe Gentle Typhoon Fans x 4 plus an extra 5 fans at the front/back and side window

The case is a Cooler Master CM Storm Scout 2

The Graphics card if relevant is a pretty out of date Radeon HD 6950 lol but u cant have it all

The PSU is an Enermax Revolution 850w

So, these CPUs are pretty good for overclocking I hear, so can anyone give me some stable clock settings and a general idea as to where to begin please?

Ideally a stable clock at 4.5GHz would be great, I dont need to push it much more than that, that would be ideal :)

If you could spare a few minutes of your time, I would be extremely grateful

ATB

I dont have your exact build but I do have a 2700k (similar to 2600k tbh) and an asus board, first thing I'm going to say is that I read before that having more ram slots in use can sometimes hinder an o.c. because it puts more strain on the cpu (pretty sure that its really only for max overclock but just throwing it out their)

I'd have to have a look on my exact settings but you could just start by enabling manual multiplier and putting in x45, then insert a manual vcore - have a google about and see what the limits are/see what your comfortable with (I believe max is the same as my 2700k and thats 1.4v, for a 4.5GHZ o.c id say you should try 1.3 - even then that might be a bit high), - run some tests - make sure temps are okay (H100i should be okay here but just to be sure), then if all goes okay try same o.c. with a lower vcore :)

Ok cool, thats the place to start :)

Building it all now should be ready for weekend barring any hiccups lol I will report back to you asap and thank you for posting ;)

AHHH great thank you :)

Please remember this is all new to me lol, so when you say "id also try with +0.015 offset and high llc(loadline calibration"

I need a translation into what I need to do, and how to do it lol sorry :)

in the bios you'll see cpu offset set that to plus so +0.015v don't use a lot only small amounts

then look for llc setting and set to high

if you get stuck ask here

Ok mate I will do that and see what happens, so all I need to do is enter those values in your screen shots so

BCLK = 100
All cores = 45
CPU Voltage = 1.160v
CPU Offset =0.015v (screenshot its 0.005
Dram Voltage 1.512v
VCCIO Voltage = 1.056 (AUTO)
CPU PLL Voltage = 1.796v (AUTO)
PCH Voltage = 1.056v

Ram timings I am unsure of, or whether they do the XMP or not, so I am not sure how to set these?

Thanks for the reply mate its really appreciated!

can leave ram timings on auto for now

I think you have to set cpu voltage to offset where it says 1.160v,cant remember without looking in the bios
