gonna pre-order windows 7, but as i only game, whats the best to go for- 32bit or 64bit.
im running an overclocked i7, 6gig ram.

thanks in advance

if you use 6GB RAM then use 64bits OS as 32bits is max to 3.5GB -- use Windows 7 64bits --- I used 64bits OS as my PC running 8GB RAM

32bit O/s is maxed at 4gb. This includes video ram as well.

Lets say you have 3gb of ram & running vista 32 bit & buy a 4870x2. Thats gonna shave 2gb of your RAM count.

Seeing as 1gb+ is the standard for gfx cards now, go for x64 for gaming.

It kinda depends
Myself , I have used windows 7 64bit ultimate since msdn released it
Iam going to give windows 7 32bit a go now , as I want things like
my sound card to work properly , pvr / winamp programs are struggling
with outputing sound correctly , I have tried win7 64 on both my work laptop
and my PC in the house (totally different sound chips) ,similar problems with both.

I have tried pretty much every driver for both cards but the problems persist
Maybe closer to "offical" release time they will have things fixed , right now I have gone back to ye olde trusty Xp32.

I will take working system over a pretty UI any day

i think any issues will be resolved fairly soon with drivers, some big companies are yet to add the win7 driver until release date. with the i7 and 6gig of ram setup you may as well go 64bit. no point in having that ram otherwise
