Running 64bit Windows 7 Proffesional and I've noticed it seems to be buggier than the Home Premium/Ultimate editions or is that just my imagination? Two of my mates have got Windows 7 home premium 64 bit & seem to have 0 problems compared to me. One of my mates and I have similar systems except he has an i7 1366 platform & i have i5 1156 platform, we both have exactly the same graphics card & sound cards. Does anyone else notice a difference between Home/Pro/Ultimate and their 32 & 64bit variations?

I know windows 7 is fresh & new and is bound to have some problems to start with but reading all the greatness about it before i bought it i thought it would be... hmm better. I had less problems with Vista when that came out.

Getting sick of "windows Explorer has stopped working" error & the compatability seems to be naff still with a few things, although i thought windows 7 was supposed to be more compatible than vista was? Quite a few of the things I've tried to install have been Completely or Semi incompatible so far.

Now BF2142 is playing around by randomly locking up the pc upon its startup & making it impossible to do anything but reset. I get a problem were after a random amount of time my mouse cursor goes huge which is graphics related & will be fixed in 9.11 catalyst. But yet my mate with similar PC doesn't get it and were running the same drivers.

Just thinking maybe if i go to 32bit version might give me less problems than im having with 64bit? Or is it likely it wont change anything? At the moment im just fed up with it all! :(

I have absolutely no problems running 64 bit on Win 7 Professional.

Every game and software that would work on XP works without a single problem on Win 7 Pro.

The problems you describe do not appear to be anything to do with 64 bit or 32 bit OS.

Must be me then, I've only got onboard sound drivers installed at the moment not X-Fi one's but the cards in.

I did a clean install on a brand new hard drive no upgrades. Sorry to sound n00b bout what do you mean by "AV"?

You could try removing the drivers completely and install them again. Also double-check you are using the latest/most compatible drivers available.

While you may be using the same drivers as a friend, you may have just been unlucky and had a bad install or broken file somewhere. Does your Event Viewer tell you anything interesting around the time you get problems?

It could also be faulty hardware? If reinstalling drivers doesn't do the trick, stress test your stuff and see if anything falls over.
