Hi!

This card should be arriving today :D (msi 2gb)

I have heard about being able to flash the bios and have flicked through the sticky on the forum and it seems easy enough (not done before)

A couple of questions!

When i first put the card in, do i download the normal drivers from ati for the 6950? Will doing so cause problems when i flash?

Is it really noticable? Worth doing? And does it void the warrenty?

I have crysis 2 and bfbc2 installed ready to go!

Thanks for any advice given! :)

I'd install drivers from ATI when I first install the card, then re-install after the flash. It does void the warranty, but a simple flash-back and no one will ever know. You should flash by modding your own bios to unlock shaders, and run afterburner to clock to 6970 speeds. The flash is essentially as noticeable as the difference between a 6950 and 6970 would be, so like all overclocks and performance tweeks, it's free performance.

:)

personally, i would run the card at stock, when you find something that it wont handle or you get the upgrade itch, flash it then. that way you will get what appears to be a new graphics card, for FREE!

Something for free? I would do it, but if you're happy running at stock speeds, then thats fair enough.

Make sure its revision 1 if you're gonna flash it.

I recieved my MSI Saturday, flashed it Saturday and worked fine during 3dmark11 and unengine or whatever its called :)
