7850 Drivers?

Hey.

A month ago I got my hands on the Sapphire 7850 which is an amazing card (and well worth every penny) however, I have a driver problem, at least I think so.

My 7850's display drivers sometimes crash. It's only in 2D mode or when I'm watching a video on Youtube. When I'm in a full screen game (such as BF3) I have no problems at all.

When it crash it either goes into a full block colour or a colour with blocky stripes on it... They are different colours each time and only last for about 10 seconds, then windows recovers the display drivers.

I have overclocked the core to 1010MHz and have not touched the memory clock at all. I have pinned it down to the buggy drivers but this is happening way to frequently.

Is this most likely a driver problem?

Thanks.

Edit: I'm on 12.6.

Had this exact same issue with my 7850 mate. Rolling back to 12.5 seems to have sorted it. Might be worth a try before you try anything else.

Your OC is good but maybe your volts are a little on the low side. Try adding 0.06 volts and I bet this will stop that crashing.

I'm sure its noting to do with that as it's fine it graphically demanding games. It's only crashing when watching YouTube and browsing the net.

I overclocked it through CCC which is fine, but I cannot see any settings for 2D in there :(

I have completely removed the overclock but the crashing persists.

Thank you all for your help. I suspected it to be a driver issue and I am really dissapointed... I had a 5770 with no issues at all, recently built a new computer with a 7850 a month ago and it's been constant driver problems.

I don't think things are that simple. When I ran mine at 1200/5400 I never got a single crash while gaming. But I got frequent crashes when loading a game (maybe the transition from 2D to 3D mode?) and while surfing, driver crashes with aero animations...

Backing off the OC to 1150 solved my problem but you say you get this even at stock speeds so I guess your issue is different to mine. Just wanted to point out that unstable OCs don't always show up in games.
