Guys,

I'm currently running 4x1GB on my P5B Deluxe WiFi and am planning on upgrading to 8GB. What do you suggest? 2x4GB or 4x2GB. I reckon by the time 8GB isn't enough I'll need to upgrade the mobo and CPU.

I was looking at this:
GeIL 8GB (4x2GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz Black Dragon DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GB28GB6400C5Q

or two of these:

ALTERNATIVE PROPOSAL:

Would I be able to keep one pair of my Geil PC6400 CAS4 DDR2 (2x1GB) and combine it with a 2x2GB? 6GB would do the trick nicely.

All suggestions/advice or better still experience is welcome.

Thanks,

Well you cant get 2 4GB Sticks,i would also go for geil or even ocz as its cheap.

Dont really know about mixing different memory.

I run without a swap file and I tend to multicast quite heavily. Moreover a game I play has a memory leak on my machine (others don't seam to experience it). The memory leak is reduced under Vista 64 from Vista 32 but after a while I get an out of memory error followed by a crash (on long playing sessions).

The memory leak is less of a problem if I don't have spreadsheets, outlook, and powerpoint in the background, but it is just postponed.

A little more breathing space would be nice. Do I REALLY need it? Probably not. Would it be nice to have, I think so. Ok you got me I'm a geek. Now my geekyness is being tested by the should I order a quad core CPE to go with the memory or still to my Conroe 6600. [I don't overclock] I think I'll stick.

Thanks,
Phasechange
