New to Macs

My new Macbook arrives early next week, I will have Parallels so I can use Stata and Scientific Workplace on the move, and an added bonus of playing with a new OS (OSX)

Any tips as to what I should install for OSX? Any little utilities? Is a virus scanner important?

also apple's website for widgets. that should keep you occupied for a while

I don't use an antivirus myself, but mixed opinions on this.
