Yup, its unlocking some cards with extra SM's, but Asus's one is unlocking a little extra power but isn't even close to the power boost the POV borked 470gtx's were unlocking to.
The SM unlocker can't add memory or increase the memory bus, so its a pretty massively bandwidth limited card thats only a little faster. Consider AT BEST you could unlock to a 470gtx, which generally can't beat a 5850, which is cheaper thana 465gtx, its a heck of a risk to take for a card that IF it unlocks just about matches a 5850 in value, if it doesn't it cost the same/more as a 5850 and performs like a 275gtx.
If it was the same price as a 5830 AND might unlock to a full 470gtx, it could be great, seeing as its priced above 5850's, offers sub 5830/285gtx performance and has a very slim chance of unlocking a part of the power towards a 470gtx, but still being not very close, its an awful value card. £60 cheaper, not to bad, where it is, priced against a card with guarenteed far better performance, its a terrible buy. Shift Nvidia' range down by £60 at every price point and you have a half competitive range, still with disadvantages though, I can't see a reason to pay more, for less though. At least the 480gtx can say its the fastest card, you pay more you get more, if its good value or not is a different question. The 465gtx IS slower and IF it unlocks it ISN'T faster and costs more. If they all hit 470gtx performance with unlocks and overclocked and cost less, I'd get one.
