New Interview and HD footage + DX10/9 Info

From the interview and HD showcase we learn that:

> Crysis will eventually bring a 8800 GeForce card to its knees.

> The Tidal waves have more technology than the entire FarCry game.

> The Trees in Crysis are more complex than the entire FarCry game.

> Crysis is 10x more technological and complex than Farcry.

> Crytek intend to be able to allow people who could run FarCry 3 years ago on highest settings (x800/6800 era etc) run Crysis on MINIMUM but, BUT! Crysis on MINIMUM will look as good as or better than FarCry whilst maintaining the same playable framerate.

^ With this info anyone with a 6800/7800 card and a capable cpu/ram combo of modern age should be able to run Crysis in DX9 mode very nicely at higher res (7800?). Looks like it will be a favourite among GFX cards with lots of memory onboard too.

> They are still currently in ALPHA stage and the CEO stated the game could be improved at any point since their team have free roam to try new things to make things run faster and look better at all times.

> DX9 in Crysis has been pushed to the limits and at ALPHA stage looks as good as DX10 in games by other developers. The CEO stated that Both DX10 and 9 look awesome, DX10 looking a little more awesome of course.

:D

there was a live interview at i29, with them actually playing the game. theres a lot unfinished to say the least. The best thing they said was that the sdk was already in the hands of some modders who were trying out various things already, early community development is gooooooooood.

I hope this game gets released in about 4 years time as that's only when i'll be able to afford a new PC which can play it with a decent frame rate :p

Yes, but what is the gameply like? :p

Wha's that? Didn't you hear, a single tree is more complex than the entire far cry game! Cos that is what is gonna make you enjoy this game - the knowledge that it has a very complex tree! ;)

What a sad time we live in!

multiplayer has a new concept mode 'power struggle' which will be revealed shortly. map sizes are rather large and should be supporting 32 vs 32. the tanks are pretty win too.

Not really, a lot of people, myself being one find that absolutely amazing. To think that 3 years ago Far Cry was one of the most visually stunning games out, and probably still is with a few mods here and there, and now we have a game to be released in the next year or so that has trees in it's world that are more complex than the whole of Far Cry. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

But then again i'm studying a games development course and people like you probably really don't care, all you want to do is kill bad guys :p

I dont like the style of game it is (weird Alien things) But im glad we are getting a new engine being built that looks so pretty, so hopefully it gets put in some types of games i do like :)

What i dont like about it is the way the damm truck blew up, Stupid unrealistic crap
You cant blow a Diesel truck up by shooting the fuel tank!!!!!

I would be surprised if you could even blow up a petrol tank by shooting at it

I wish games would work on those type of realisms for a change, I blame Hollywood :(

i recorded some of the live footage on my camera at i29, if i find somewhere to upload i'll post it...

did you record the part where he lost his tank ? ;) but overall i wasnt impressed by the presentation there, it looked like a slightly nicer farcry, and the wheels on the jeep were terrible, 1 shot and they deflate, 3 shots and the entire tire just dissapears.

Dont get me wrong I find it interesting too, and will buy the game solely on its technical prowess. But, I find it sad that some games back in the 80s designed by individuals had more playability and lastability than games now based on the latest tech and designed by big teams for big bucks.

The designers know that it is better to talk about the tech in Crysis to build hype rather than concentrate on the story or gameplay, even though these are the things that will keep you playing the game for more than an hour.
