Hey all, I have done two builds recently using the H60 v2, and I cannot for the life of me get them to cool properly.
I fitted them both following the guidelines in the manual exactly, everything was done up as tight as it could go, I was using the correct spacers, the right amount of TIM etcetera, but the temperatures are about 20°C too high.
When I apply pressure to the waterblock, the temperatures drop down to where they are supposed to be which suggests it is a mounting issue.
I have taken the blocks off and reseated multiple times to no avail.
With both units, when screwing the 1155/1156 spacers into the backplate the thread/nut on the backplate spins and you have to apply pressure to it from the back to stop it from spinning to tighten it further, and it is awkward and actually quite painful.
After doing all of that one of the units is working properly cooling a 3570K at 4.4GHz, but the other is still stuck at stock because I cannot fix the problem.
I never has this issue with the old Corsair sealed loops or my Antec one, the new mounting design is absolute crap.
At first I thought there was a manufacturing defect, but surely this cannot be the case with two different coolers?
I was considering getting an H80i for myself at some point, but this has put me right off. If anything I will get a Kuhler 920.
Hardly anyone else is having this problem, am I just retarded..?
*edit* watched some installation videos (haven't had to do that in a while) I did it exactly the same.......
*edit again* watched an instalation video of an H100i, the load temperatures at 4.5GHz on a 3570K were over 80°C, I get 64°C at 4.6GHz on my 2500K with my comparitively cheap Kuhler 620. So it suggests that i'm not the only one having this problem with Corsairs new mounting system.
