guys, my 4 week old Liberty 620 PSU  has just made a major loud pop and my system is now dead :( , I'm really worried it's taken other parts of my system out, maybie all :( , feel so gutted right now, gonna try my old psu in it, if it has kill other components where do I stand, who is responsible for that.

Edit - I have my full system running off surge projectors also.

Chances are it hasnt killed anything else, major brandname psu's usually have protection against that, but the only was to know is hook up another psu and give it a go.

If it has taken out the rest of your system, i really have no idea who takes the blame for that. :(

Last week my friends Nexus 3500 made a loud "pop" and then nothing would turn on, I replaced it with a old 365w enermax and all is well again. - Now I am worried about my Nexus NX4090!

PHHEEEEEEWWWWWWWWW !!!!!!!!, just finished putting my old tagan 480 in and fingers crossed everying seems to be ok, the real bummer is tho that the Enermax Liberty 620 was a really nice PSU, very handy being modualar plus was very cool even when the system was under load, what do you guys reccomend I do, should I chance exchanging it for the same make and model and just prey it does'nt pop again or go for another make.

get the OCZ GameXtream 700w, it's not modular but they are very very powerul, reliable, and have a great warranty. :)

It seems to me that these enermax power supplys are bad, for every pound I see on this forum about enermax power supplys blowing up or making a bang I would be a millionare.

Mine went also not long ago.

I've had a PSU pull off a major loud "pop" before. The thing just turned out to be totally clogged with dust which resulted in it's demise. I had the thing for quite a while so I wasn't too fussed. Nothing else was damaged (gave me a helluva shock though!).

You've had it only 4 weeks, yeah? Isn't there some sort of warranty? Can't Liberty do you a replacement? Might wanna look into that.

To be honest I don't think that's a regular occurance with Enermax supplies (I have a 5 year old enermax still working fine), and the build quality is great I think you've had a bit of bad luck (either that or there's been a bad batch somewhere)

Aye :) I;ve used 3 Enermax, an Akasa, and a Sparkle (FSP) PSU, all have been fine, touch wood.

Obviously there are going to be occasional failures, and on forusm you only see failures. I am sure the % is extremely low for Enermax fails.

Try the Seasonic S12 600w.....great units and nice and quiet too....although not modular.

Had one go a few weeks back liberty 500 (was a thread here). Quickly replaced (day ocuk recieved it a new was dispatched - impressive) and the new one has given no problems. There was no damage to other components, it is worrying when your 1k toy goes pop due to a faulty unit being shipped though.

*edit* I dont think enermax have any responsibility for damaged components aswell, which sucks if they can ship goods of questionable quality.

Had my enermax 620w go a couple of months ago - took the whole of my pc with it - I'll never go enermax again.

*gulps* I am actually have second thoughts about getting an Enermax for my new system now. I like Seasonic but I want modular.

Wow. Enermax is supposed to have a decent reputation. I've always used Antec though and have always been happy..if I changed brands it would probably only be to PC power and cooling

I've had an Antec go bang (true blue) replaced under warrenty, was fine for years.
Had the Enermax 620 last year, went bang within a few weeks, replaced under warrenty and also been fine ever since.

The reason the working antec was replaced was it failed when cold or at first switch on, wouldn't turn on the whole pc, had to unlpug everything and let it warm up just running the M/B and one HDD, then it could be turned off, everything plugged in and it would switch on fine after that.
I use that as my back up now lol

Happy with the Enermax anyway, nice PSU, runs cool (should do with those bloody great fans) looks class, modular which means neatness.

well, I,ve gone for a replacment of the same make and model (gulp), it has to many plus points for me, being that it ran very cool and quite, plus had very long cpu 2x2 power connectors which I need as I'm using the antec p180, oh and it's modualar, I'm hopeing the chances of having two duff psu's in a row will be very low, but then you never know, whats ironic is that I paid 16 pound for q-tec PSU in my other system and has been going strong for 2 years now.
