Asus P8P67 Rev3 not booting

Hi all
Can anyone help me with this problem.
My new asus p8p67 pro arrived on friday but it doesn't boot or post it just starts for 1 second, the fans spin and then it restarts. I have the green standby led(which is always on) so there is some power no other leds light up apart from a quick flash of the cpu led. What appears to be happening is that as soon as the PSU powers up , for some reason the power gets withdrawn.... and the power supply shuts down and restarts. I have tried the usual reseat cpu, moved memory around, new psu and in pc case and out but the problem is still there.

Anyone else ever experienced this with these boards.

Andy

p8p67 pro
intel 2600k
corsair 850watt psu

Yes I've checked all cables they are connected. I also tried it with it out and get the same error, with memory in and out too same error.

There have been oddities with the graphics. Try moving your GPU to the second slot.
Also. Do a full CMOS reset including taking the battery out for 15 minutes.
Finally... When it starts is the red Ram Led lit. Try pressing and holding the memory config button until the light goes out.

Do you have anything else connected to the board other than CPU, RAM and GPU?
Final thoughts... the RAM needs to be very well inserted. The clips on the Asus are not the best, ensure the RAM is in properly...
I have also found that the contacts on ram and CPU can be bad. Give the underside of the CPU a wipe with a dry cloth and the RAM contacts.

Not saying it is this, but I had the exact same problem a couple of years ago when I had an extra motherboard stand-off screwed in that shouldn't have been there (no hole at that point in motherboard) was causing a short. Once removed booted fine...

I had this with my P8P67 pro board (not the new rev3), it would start for a second then switch off & start again in a second or so, once started it was ok with no problems, when i updated to the latest bios the problem went away.

Checked all the stand off screws and they look like their in the right place. Not tried the graphics cards in different slots but I will. The bios according to the sticker is they latest but ive never had it get past this 1 second restart loop.
Done the battery and cmos reset too. Really got me stumped.

If it was memory it should at least beep to tell me, same for the cpu?

Oma-Lan how did you get it to start in the end?

thanks again for the help guys

Had exactly the same problem with this board myself - and still do to a certain extent! I managed to get mine to boot (eventually) after resetting the CMOS as guys above are stating. I then flashed to 1204 bios revision and things got better. I still have an initial shut down after first switching on but it quickly boots up with no further input from me and goes to desk top. All fine when I'm in there.

I have noticed that if a apply manual setting for my overclock (to 4.5Ghz) - the usual including cpu ratio 45; cpu voltage, ram voltage and timings; LLC; CPU PLL; and the 2 V's (VCCSA or whatever it is!), I get no boot issues whatsoever with the latest bios installed. If I revert (as per current set up) to the auto overclock, ie performance setting, then I get the double boot issue.

In my experience, the board is very temperamental and I will be returning mine when the B3 revisions are available

There are loads of people with problems with these boards, well with the original ones anyway (including me), they're rubbish IMOA. When mine broke (green power light came on but bios did not start) I tried to RMA and get a different make but no luck cause it was over 28 days. Kinda frustratin when ya pay hundreds of pounds for a computer and you can't use it. Been without mine for about 2 weeks now :( Dunno if the board you got is the same but the first mobo's turned off then on when you used them, after 2 or three cycles they would post

Re the double boot issue - have you tried enabling "Power on by PCIe" ? It's under APM in the advanced tab.

No idea why it works but I picked up this tip direct from an Asus rep - tried it - and it completely sorted my double triple boot issues.

I'm on Bios 1204 on an Asus P8p67 Deluxe

I never had this problem UNTIL i updated to 1204 and then had the exact same issue as described.

The solution Boge got from the Asus rep solved it for me too. Try it.

i've had this with the auto overclock on the P8P67. Either overclock manually (some awesome guides around specifically for this board) or load the defaults and problems will go away.
Mine was actually doing it a couple of times then it would display "overclock failed" on post so it was really obvious.
Those of you flashing - the updated bios likely has better auto overclocking with the defaults set to off. The flash gives you defaults which work. Those who are flashing and getting "still some tiny problems" are likely trying the auto overclock again.

I HAD COLD BOOT PROBS THE OTHER DAY PUT 1305 BIOS ON FROM ASUS WEBSITE WORKS A TREAT NOW. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT MY ASUS DX2 SOUND CARD POWER WAS NOT IN RIGHT AND WAS CAUSING ME SIMILAR PROBS.

Just a quick Update

Thanks for all your suggestions but nothing seemed to work going to have send it back, think I'm going to try and get it swaped for a Sabertooth P67. Anyone had any problems with that one.

Cheers
Andy

Also having the double boot issue (turns off 1 sec after turning on the first time). Will try the fix listed above.

I'm having trouble getting the xonar dx2 5.1 sound working but apart from that all up and running ok. It's the B3 revision here. i7 2600K..not tried overclocking yet as I like everything stable and certifiably fine before I start messing with clock speeds.

I've just had P8P67 Pro B3 die on me tonight (installed on saturday) with a similar problem to OP. Had just booted into windows when it just shut off, when I tried to restart, nothing except for a split second flash of an LED fan (I didn't get a cycling of power however). I tested all the other components that I could (everything except the CPU) in another mobo and all were ok. I've just requested an RMA for the motherboard but am having to request the CPU as well (I5 2500K) as they are the only 2 I can't check for faults (I'm leaning towards it being mobo though) :(

i just built mine today had no problems at all,its up and running really well bios was already 1305 so didn,t need to update it got a ssd and f3 working fine did a fresh install of windows and i just finished installing windows updates and software,to tired now to do anything else but for me this being my first build it couldn't have gone better.:)

Will hopefully be building mine tonight (parts arrived today).

Hopefully it goes as smoothly as your build!! :)
