Just Cause dev claims “PS4 will out-power most PCs for years

PS4 will out-power PCs for years to come

Blomberg talked about the PS4 hardware and focussed upon the 8GB of GDDR5 RAM the machine will be equipped with as standard “It’s a perfect fit for the types of games we do, and we are confident that we’ll bring open-world gaming to a whole new level because of it. I’m glad Sony decided to go with 8GB RAM because it means that the PS4 will out-power most PCs for years to come”.

Well, he's technically right, but only because "most PCs" are crap sold by the big OEMs.

But obviously it won't out-power the majority of self-built or custom gaming rigs.

He's right. It will out power most PCs. The PS3 probably does the same. Most PCs are sitting in offices running Windows XP.

i best get my scissors then......

lol he is right  so many to jump in so quick. what you must remember many people have dells not nerd pcs like us lot :p

so a ps4 will be the equivalent of a med to highend pc for a cheap price. hmm that reminds me must ask him about just cause 3 .

Who cares if it has 8GB.

With my PC i can just download some more Ram and run everything at 15 frames+ at 800x600.

What an outrageous claim.

I take it my filthy cream windows 95 PC sitting in the corner making sounds like an elephant gangbang only helps his claims...

He is probably right. It won't out perform most Gaming rigs, but when you think about the PCs/Laptops that Joe Bloggs has at home the PS3 is probably more powerful.

I bet most tablets and smart phones can out perform "most" PC's to be honest but its a slightly stupid comparison to make. Its like saying my lawn mower can out perform the new PS4 for years to come in the cutting the grass department.

Technically he's right. Most PCs in existence today are probably basic office-spec PCs, so naturally way, way under-specced compared to what the PS4 will offer. But obviously this is a nonsense in the real world, where he should be comparing it to gaming-grade PC specifications, which will ALWAYS leave console specs in the dust for obvious reasons. Reality is that the PS4 will feel old and slow and underpowered 6-12 months after launch, as all consoles do.

Move along.

Big talk to drum up initial PS4 sales and mobilise the "PC Gaming is Dying" brigade.

Without specifics, it is impossible to know what "outpower" and "most PCs" actually mean. The devious little so-and-so is well aware of this, and can hide behind the generalisations with impunity.

The proof is in the pudding - let's do it, 1080p to 1080p, system to system face-off when the launch titles and cross-platform releases hit the market. BF4 should be a prime example...
