So i'm heading to Prague next Month

We rented an apartment from a local in the Old Town quite a few years ago and he recommended this place called the Apocalyptic Pig. It's by no means fancy, and possibly a bit touristy but the food was very authentic and decent too. Loved the jar of dripping/lard to put on your bread :D Oh and the dark Budvar is amazing.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, definitely going to check them out :)

Girlfriend loves the look of the Apocalyptic Pig. We went to Prague for 1 day a year or so back and visted that oldest brewery in Prague (U fleku) and she loves that old style, long tables with the beer flowing :)

I am back from my trip now. Would 100% visit Prague again though. What a lovely City. Reminds me of my home town Edinburgh due to the Old Town and New Town split. Everyone we met were friendly and you really feel safe too. Even those touting for tourist trade are non aggressive which is a pleasant change :)

I really should have taken more food pics as we really enjoyed a lot of what was on offer. Especially the old Prague Ham and Smoked Sausages.

Only pic my gf took of the steak from George Steak Prime:

What they called Cowboy style steak. Sides of Mash potatoes, baked potato, Carrots cooked in maple syrup.

Found some more pics, mostly cocktails/drinks:

GF trying frogs legs for the 1st time. They really doused them in Garlic!

GF enjoying a cocktail before dinner at George Steak Prime, I think this was the "MAI TAI FUSION"
Two Rums Combined with House-Made Almond Syrup,
Grand Marnier, Fresh Lime, Basil

I think this was the place Seany was talking about in the previous post:

Personally the overall meal I had at George Prime was better than Hawksmoor and even Prime at the Bellagio. It's expensive for Prague, but in the grand scheme of things and in comparison to similar restaurants in other world cities I thought it was quite good value. Looking forward to going back at some point, Prague is a great city.

Was pretty decent value for money:

Two steaks
Sides of mash, baked potatoe, carrots
1 beer
2 cocktails
1 triple chocolate cake
2 after dinner cocktails

£120 including tip if I converted correctly.

I've booked for a trip in Aug for the GF. Which hotel did you stay in? I've booked a best western Palace Hotel. Hopefully it will be good enough.

Looking at these recommendations and the places op ate has given me some good pointers thank you.

U Rudolfina. Never tried the food, but my god they know how to serve a pint. I could live in there, and I ain't a massive fan of Pislners.

Lokál Dlouhá - They also do there own beer, but the food was very very nice.

Wooops late to reply. We stayed at the Emblem hotel. It's basically attached to the George Steak Prime place.

Highly recommend you find time to have a steak there :)

What a fantastic view of the old town from your hotel. I loved Prague and will 100% visit again.
