Man Utd to extend Solskjaer's contract

Why?

He's crocked. Fair enough it's a pay as you play deal but I still see it as rather pointless. I don't see him offering much in the dressing room.

I think this is the token of appreciation offered by the Club to his effort of coming back to the game after few serious injuries. At this age, I don’t think he can play many more games and don’t expect him to be in the starting line-up for every game.

No, go through it again. How is he being rewarded if it's a pay as you play deal? He's not going to be playing. It's just baggage. I love him for the goal in Barca too, but this just doesn't make sense.

Maybe offering him a coaching position or something, but only if he's cut out for it.

its only a pay as you play deal tho, so he'll probably be taking home zip :p

i just cant get over how old he is, 33!!!! surely he lied so he could get into the country or summit, he looks about 9 :p

He's a dying breed of player at Old Trafford, one that actually gives a crap about the future of the club. Apparently he's a big help to the younger guys coming through the ranks, it's exactly what we need. Offer him a coaching job and get rid of Micky Phelan!! :D

I think his playing days are behind him but he has so much more to offer the club and Ferguson knows that so they've set up this new contract to keep him at Old Trafford. Is Scholes a new scout for Ferguson now? He's been to a few matches now and has been spotted taking notes, especially watching Kevin Nolan a few weekends ago. And here's me thinking he needs to rest his eyes

Aye ive heard that as well apparently hes being scouted for a summer move

That will be 2 scousers playing for MU if we sign him

clearly he hasnt fought back tho

Of course he has, he broke his cheekbone playing in a reserve match after he recovered from a small and unrelated injury, it had nothing to do with what he has fought back from. Are you saying that from being virtually unable to walk at one point to playing in a FA Cup match this season doesn't count as fighting back? Burton Albion they may have been but I would say that's a pretty good achievement when you consider the injuries he sustained.

I'm not saying that he is ever going to get back to the level he was, but you should never write off someone like that. He hasn't had the stresses of playing for about 2 years, so who's to say his body couldn't cope with another 2 or 3 years at the top, provided he can regain full match fitness? Sir Alex has already stated his belief that it's very possible.

Just my opinion, of course ;)

yeah well i disagree. dont think he'll ever get bavk in the starting line up.

I don't either. I think with the other players that are there now a substitute role is probably the only likelihood, if and when he makes it back, and even that wouldn't be a certainty. But that wasn't my point.

And to williamw11, couldn't agree more!

Solskjaer = Legend

Definitely deserves it, especially for the way he has fought back from such massive injuries.

I agree with you. I can remember that he has had chance to join spur but refused to join them. Most of the time, he was on the bench. When he comes on the pitch, he will score for us. The most important one was the one scored in CL final at Barcelona.
