Hey,

I just opened up CPU-Z and it is saying my X6800 is running at 1600MHZ? Im using Giga DS3. I think i read somewhere that its something to do with EISM or something. Can anyone clear this up for me.

Cheers

It's probably SpeedStep dropping your multiplier when the CPU is at idle. It lowers heat output when the performance is not needed.

Stress it with something (Folding@Home ;)) and see if it goes up to its rated speed.

Ah, it keeps going up and down now. I opened up a few programs and it went up to 2900, is there anyway i can keep it up like that or is it better to leave that setting enabled?

The multi is 6x. Should be 11 right? Shall i run a game or something?

run prime95 or sp2004 and keep cpu-z open. It's called EIST (Enhanced Intel Speedstepping Technology) and it drops the multi to 6x. AMD's equivalent is Cool'n'Quiet

Whats annoying about it, is that the CPU Fan just goes crazy when i do something. I really should replace it.

You might want to take it off and reseat it with AS5. It's possible that the heatsink compound is not performing adequately. It could save you some extra heat whilst you wait for your Ninja. :)

Well the Heatsink had some sort of heat compound on it so i left it like it was. I will reseat when i get my new CPU fan and put some AS5. Its running at about 40C idle which i think is a tad bit high.

Should not it be able to be deactivated in the BIOS? Even if it can't I don't see why it would effect overclockability as it's fone at the BIOS level rather than in software through a driver or anything like that.

Heck, none of your CPUs should ever be at idle anyway. ;)

to keep you cpu running at full speed at all times goto power options and set your computer to always on ;)

this works on intel and amd chips.

Just ordered both ^^. Will be with me tomorrow. Is thing quite heavy? Seems humongous.

It is quiet big,i found it very easy to fit apart from the fan,but i got it in the end :D
