Hi, I decided to try the new LED VLED221WM monitor, first impressions
against a 226bw are:
- Very bright for its 250 cmd/m2 spec, had to use 5% brightness to obtain an approximate brightness to the 226 (set to 40/100)
- Very saturated colours
- No banding in greys or colours
- Quiet, apart from one screen on the nokia test util which made it buzz (226 is quieter)
- Worse backlight, no defined top/bottom spots, just seems it has a hard time doing total black
- Measured the same chrono times, so lag should be same as 226
- Colours were simply different compared to the 226, i couldnt say better or worse
- Nice glossy surrround and stand
Bad points
========
- Standard tilt only stand
- Poor sharpness compared to 226, this is noticeable in text and hd (apple) clips, there is no osd setting to modify sharpness.
Overall
=====
Returning under the 7 day act because of the sharpness issue, other may not notice, but my eyes had problems with it, probably because of the long periods spent with the 226 and dell 2007 (ips) at work.
