The google is weak with this one so... I want to upgrade my 32bit Vista to 64bit Vista (OEM - home premium)- I know all I have to do is pay for the dvd/postage, but can't for the life of me find the link - anyone know where I can find it please?

The MS page for 64 bit media upgrade won't accept OEM serials, you have to phone them up and speak to the OEM people. I paid ~£17 for the 64 bit home premium DVD, which was delivered around 2 weeks after the order was placed. They sent me a second 32 bit DVD first of all, but to be fair the 64 bit media turned up by courier the day after (I called them the same day the wrong disc turned up).

Ring 0870 60 10 100 and tell them you're wanting to upgrade a self-built OEM install to 64 bit after mistakenly purchasing the 32 bit DVD and they'll send you a form by email. You need to amend the form (a Word document) to add "ORDER FOR 64 BIT REPLACEMENT MEDIA" at the top of each page, as they haven't got an option on the existing forms yet LOL

That said, despite my size 18 bright red declaration at the head of each page, I still got a 32 bit disc through the post first LOL :D

Thanks for that - I might be being thick this time of the morning etc. but I can't see an option for what I want there? I have an OEM copy of 32 bit Vista Home Premium. I want to swap that for the 64 bit version. As I understand it I pay about £7 and they send me the dvd which I use to replace the current install on my machine (or even dual boot if I were so inclined) Having read the whole of that page I can see links to buy new software, replace damaged/lost media, or find a list of OEM manufacturers.

It says that to do what I require I must contact my system builder (I tried - my number is always engaged when I call ;))

Has something changed since tat link was originally posted in the sticky - or do I have to go through OcUK to do this now?

EDIt: just seen the above - thanks - exactly what I was after - had heard a rumour you had to call - will give it a try - £17 seems a bit steep?

after mistakenly purchasing the 32 bit DVD

I thought this was all legit as covered in the eula thread - was sure the OEM licence covered both 32 bit and 64 bit - or does that approach just reduce the conversation length?

Yep, you're correct. It does allow you to use both 32 and 64 bit, just not at the same time. The OEM packs only ship with the media you chose, if you buy a retail Business or Ultimate edition you get both the 32 and 64 bit media. All the other editions you have to request the media from Microsoft.

The form is all in the link posted above you ;)

Do you mean the "End user media replacement form?"

This form is to be used by End Users to acquire replacement media in the event that Microsoft software CD(s) originally purchased through a System Builder is defective, damaged on receipt or during installation, or misplaced. Additionally, an End User should only use this form when they are not able to obtain replacement through the System Builder from whom they originally purchased the software.

Doesn't seem to cover what I need?

Honestly - I'm not trying to be difficult, but on that link (1st reply) I can find nothing that fits the bill - if you can see what I need can you at least tell me what the title is, or better yet link direct to the form - seem to be going round in circles here?

I have to say I find this whole process hugely frustrating - I started in the Windows Anytime Upgrade section (what was I thinking?!?) and I just get the feeling that they don't want us to do this - plenty of options to shell out lots of cash on new/upgrade produces - but I'm blown if I can find either information or direction for a simple media swap ???

From a retail version leaflet it mentions going to
http://www.windowsvista.com/1033/ordermedia

Page has been down on the two days I've checked, and the link in Burnsy2023 post on sticky, page 2 seems to be for the same page.

Looking at link in this thread, would "Media Replacement for End Users of System Builders" be the best option? Just don't like the OEM wording.
