I installed an Accelero S1 on my Inno3D 8800GT earlier today. I made the purchase because my temps would reach almost 90degrees with the cards stock heatsink. Results below.

Stock Heatsink and Fan Settings

Default clocks (600core/1500shader/1800mem)
IDLE=53
LOAD=84

Max Overclock (702core/1687shader/2000mem)
IDLE=53
LOAD=89

Accelero S1 passive

Default clocks (600core/1500shader/1800mem)
IDLE=39
LOAD=69

Max Overclock (729core/1720shader/2040mem)
IDLE=40
LOAD=73

Accelero S1 plus 92mm Akasa Amber fan

Default clocks (600core/1500shader/1800mem)
IDLE=36
LOAD=43

Max Overclock (729core/1782shader/2100mem)
IDLE=36
LOAD=45

Here's a Riva Tuner image of the Accelero + 92mm fan with max OC.

So, the Accelero has dropped idle temps by around 17degrees and load temps by a staggering 41degrees. This was better than I expected but the thing that surprised me most was the increase in memory overclock. With the stock coller my memory was "just about" stable at 2000MHz. Without any ramsinks (naked) it clocks much furthrer. I can bench at 2160 on the ram, but have used 2100 with complete stability.The core and shader also overclock further, but I think voltage is holding me back now.

For just over a tenner the Accelero is a great buy for any 8800GT owner. Buy one quick before everyone puts the price up:D.

Is it a requirement to add a fan to the Accellero S1 for use with the 8800GT? I would have thought even a small fan would be more efficient than some pipes?

Edit: don't reply to my stupid question. I'm gonna look for some reviews and tips seen as I've never done a heatsink removal & installation on a gfx card before.

wOOt:D That's great, ive the card, S1 and turbo jobbie thing on the way

Interesting bout the ramsinks - I bought some zalman ones & not sure if i'll put em on now:confused:

Having a fan pointing at the ram must keep it cooler than the original heatsink - I guess the hot GPU helped cook the ram a bit. Don't even bother trying to install the ramsinks that come with the Accelero as they will not stick. Proper sticky pads and ramsinks may help with a fan blowing on them.

Anyway, just beat 30fps Average is Crysis demo (1680x1080 High settings) for the first time. Actual average was 30.65.

Did I read somewhere that there arent enough RAM sinks anyway in the S1 package? And also you would have to use either the smaller ones or none at all on the ram above the GPU to allow the heatpipes clearance?

Do you recon I could mount a fan on the end of my 8800GT (when I get it) in such a way that it creates a T shape, with the fan blowing air down the length of the front of the card with one half, and the other half blowing air over the back of the card, cooling my chipset sink? Would the PCI power lead get in the way of this?

S1 is a stunning cooler for the price, My clocks with it, and still looking for it to top out

756 core 1890 shaders and 1040 on the men.

Well pleased as I have just gone past 15k 3D06 marks on a Q6600 @3200 8X400

Never have done it without the S1

I'm using an S1 on my x1950 pro, purely because I wanted a bit of quiet. Having said that, It's sitting doing nowt at 35c and goes up to mid 40c when under load. I was thinking about getting a 10 or 12cm fan and placing it on some kind of legs, about 1 or 2 inches from the base of my case, but I don't feel it's necessary having seen the S1 in action. Superb.

Now looking at their s775 CPU cooler as everyone seems to rave about that too. Bloomin good company and fantastic products.

What about rpm of fan ? and to be honest i wouldn't trust those coolers where the ram sinks keep falling off.

My BFG 8800GT OC version stock fan just began to make a ticking noise about 5 minutes ago, I think I might have to order one of these Accelero heatsinks.

Just as I was beginning to enjoy this beast of a card the stupid fan had to give up on me.:rolleyes:

So should I get the Akasa Amber 92mm fan or the Arctic Cooling Accelero S1/S2 Turbo Module to go with the heatsink?

Update:

For some unknown reason it has stopped making the ticking noise. :)

Apparently the Turbo Module is a complete waste of space.

I have a question regarding the S1 however:
With the current fan, all the air is pushed out of *** case. However, if i get the S1 and whack a Yate Loon on it, will the air not be pushed up towards the CPU? Or if you turn the fan round to pull the air through the HSF rather than push, the airflow will be all over the place.

If someone gets one in the next couple of days, can you check the idle temp for the CPU and see if it increases?

I had a terrible time trying to get the RAM heatsinks to stick with the S1. All the sticking power of saliva with the supplied sticky backing. I had to use thermal epoxy in the end. Those suckers ain't coming off again!

What is it with stock fans? My X1950XT started to rattle after 6 months, my X800XL fan just died on my dad after months of being rattly. They appear cheap and nasty for what is relatively expensive kit.

Nice job 555BUK! I'm sure people will find this very interesting. Also I've heard a rumor on a dutch tweaking site that when running mem @ 2000Mhz on this card the lifetime will decrease significantly, dunno if it's true but hey thought I'd say it :)

If this was the case, then why are there 2 models available running at this speed from the manufacturers.. namely the

Leadtek GeForce 8800 GT Extreme, and the Asus GeForce EN8800 GT TOP :):confused:
