Is there anyone here who believes in an afterlife?

I do, but I'm not sure exactly what. I was brought up as a catholic and went to church, I believed in God. Sometimes I do now but sometimes I don't. I really don't know. I know some of it is wishful thinking in that I want there to be something after death but deep down I do believe there is something else.

Whilst I wouldn't mind there being one, I'm not going to waste my life adhering to some crazy religious rules in the hope that I will be allowed access to this apparent afterlife.

Religion and believing in an afterlife don't quite go hand in hand, in terms of, you don't need to be a follower of a religion to hold beliefs.

I suppose so, however being an atheist and believing in science kind of makes believing in an afterlife somewhat hard.

Nope, not at all. In doing so would be elevating our own significance in the grand scheme of things.

I'd love there to be one though.

Hard to imagine there could be really. There must surely be an end at some point, I can't imagine going on forever, at least not in any 'life' I could currently recognise or comprehend. Eternal life as we know it would be terrible don't you agree?

My thoughts too. If it didn't exist and you were a muslim say then surely you have just wasted a lot of your life and not living it to the full? It could exist yes but I'd rather not risk it and potentially waste a lot of my life. :)
