Alone in the dark gameplay trailer

Looks like a Resi 4 wannabe (and yeah i know this came first)

Don't be drawn in by the pretty shadows people! You can almost guarantee it'll be crap.

How can you guarantee it'll be crap? Given that all the AITD games before this were great, I can't really see how you come to that conclusion..

RE4 was complet and utter rubbish.

I found Alone In The Dark - The New Nightmare far superior as it had a lot of puzzles and fighting in it where as RE4 was just running around killing things unlike the earlier incarnations which were much better (RE1 / 2 were superb).

It's not just about graphics it's about the entire gameplay - with the new AITD game you can do pretty much what you want - chuck a bottle of petrol over a monster then light it - grab a power cable and put it in water to kill enemies from miles away - I don't see that in RE5 and if it does go down that route then you can thank AITD for the idea.

I hate that all these really ace games scare the hell out of me, I love playing Condemned for example, but its soo damned freaky :p

I'll probably be getting this game, does look mighty fun.

Alone in the Dark is going to be awesome. I am not sure what I want more between that, Alan Wake and the upcoming Resident Evil 5...

Either way, they need to release faster damnit :(

Since they've changed the way Resident Evil looks (with the 3D third person rubbish) I haven't found it scarey at all. They've also toned down the difficulty level on there (probably just for people who can't think for themselves) and generally moved away from a great concept to the crap we have now.

I don't hold much hope for it. Hopefully Alan Wake will be much better.

Personally, I think RE had to change. Yes, they could have stuck with the tried and tested formula, but that's quite old now imo. The new games may not have the scare factor of the originals, but I still think there's tension due to the smarter enemies and aiming system. Just my 2c.

As for AITD, very much looking forward to seeing some reviews!

I agree something did have to change. However what they have changed has take the 'soul' out of RE. By that I mean it feels like every other generic third person shooter with nothing new. I remember a game years ago called Nocturne and it looks exactly like that and plays like that. The puzzle element may as well be none existant. The viewpoints when you go inside of buildings are poor, the setting was drab, the controls were awful, etc.

I'm sorry but I loved RE 1/2 it's what I originally bought a PS1 for but this is a very poor imitation to the series.

Anyway back on topic - still looks awesome - especially the fire!
