Just bought an am200 to replace the bebox as I am fedup with it crashing all the time.

Trying to set the am200 to bridge mode but it doesnt seem to work as i thought it would, it says that the WAN ip is the LAN ip which can't be right?

Trying to link it up with a wrt54g, i can get on the linksys box absolutely fine but it just will not connect.

Here's the status page of what it looks like after it syncs:

In bridge mode the linksys does not have an IP, the IP listed is just for reference, your public IP should/will be passed to your WRT54G - set it's internet interface to DHCP for dynamic or fill out your internet static ip details.

You will normally not be able to access the AM200 in operation*

*you can assign to ip's to one interface to get to it, but im not sure you can do this on the WRT54G

See http://www.lewty.org.uk/blog/?p=70 for more details.

^^yea i read that but it didn't mention anything about the other device attached to the bridged am200.

I'll give it a bash and post back :)

Put the ip stuff in manually and its working fine now, so is there no way i can get to the am200 now?

Not unless you can add a second IP to the wan interface of your WRT54G, in my case my AM200 feeds a linux server box directly so i just added two IPs to my wan interface but i don't think this is possible on the WRT54G, so basically no you can't get to it.

Your WRT54G or in my case my routing pc, you put in the public IP, i believe if you leave DHCP turned on in the AM200 it will pass you your internet allocated dynamic IP but i'm not entirely sure on that.

I'm using the AM200 on UK Online at the mo, pending my migration to Be when my contract expires (September/October). I'm using the AM200 in half-bridge mode and it passes on its IP to my WRT54GL perfectly... is it not possible to use something like this on Be? Or does it have to be full bridge?

With half bridge you can still access the AM200's web UI.

Whoa! This thread is just what I need. Someone with a Linksys AM200. :D

Can you tell me if it supports Annexe.M for BeThere's UploadPlus? :)

Yes, it seems that it does :D The official response from Linksys was "Erm, we're not sure. Try it and see." But I posted about it on the Linksys Community Forums and a girl got back to me with her AM200 stats and they confirmed 2.5 megs upstream

I think you have to use Be* in full bridge mode as it doesn't require any form of authentication (which is why you get forced to use half bridge in the first place).

But really, do you *have* to have access to the webui once it's working? i've never even been bothered about looking.

Nope. The AM200's webUI is pretty basic, and once you're in bridge (or half-bridge) mode its also irrelevant. Just set it up, plug it into the WRT and go from there.

Up and running, works beautifully and my whole "internet experience" has improved.

But most of all, FXP now works which was the main reason for dumping the bebox :D :D

Now jsut need to upgrade my DDWRT.

I see you went for an AM200 after all Rainmaker, how you finding the combo?

AM200 can support any current DSL standard, and also pass WAN IP on as it should. It really is a great little modem to own.

Hmm.... it keeps dropping my line.

I thought it was something to do with my torrents but i stopped them and its just dropped it again.

Now i need to get on to the am200 for diagnostics but i cant!

Can i telnet to it?

Excellent. Thanks. :)

Got a link to the thread on the Linksys forums?

No,

What you *can* do is put a switch between the modem and your WRT54G, leave those two setup as normal, but put another PC directly on the switch with a 192.168.1.x ip (or the internal range of your Am200), that should work but no gurentees

Hmm.... can't see anything obvious, the box isn't restarting because the uptime shows as 23 hours so its dropping the line, maybe it's trying to sync itself properly, it's weird though because the bebox used to sync at like 5meg but this only picks up 3.5/4.5

But having said that the bebox did crap out on me a lot so maybe it was pushing too hard on the connection.

Great combo tbh, I'm really glad I bit the bullet and stumped up the cash. I sync 1.5 megs higher than I could with the Netgear (now 21.5 megs down with 2.2+ MB/sec throughput). I second the comment about it being a great modem, it's rock solid too in my experience.

You can find the Linksys forums I mentioned HERE. Cheers.

I wouldn't mind knowing more about the alternatives for a Be-Box but the real need hasn't arisen yet because the Be-Box has been doing a good job.

I have set-up four or five friends/clients with BE and none of them had had any real issues either except one person who lives in block that already has several Wifi signals blasting through his home and his Be-Box kept dropping its Wifi signal. Quick call to be and they sorted it out by getting him to change channel (whatever that means?).

Interesting that you sync higher than the netgear. I presume all the same tweaks and the latest DGTeam firmware on the Netgear (and that it was a broadcom chipset one)? :)
