Mod Required Please: Which is the best Anti-Virus?

Could a mod please make this a poll with the following options: (also possibly make it a sticky so this question doesnt need to be repeated over and over and over). Thanks :)

NOD32 - PAID FOR - (Vista & x64 compatible)
Kaspersky - PAID FOR - (Vista & x64 compatible)
Symantec/Norton - PAID FOR - (Vista compatible)
Avast Home Edition - FREE - (Vista & x64 compatible)
AVG - FREE - (Vista compatible)
F-Secure - PAID FOR
McAfee - PAID FOR - (Vista compatible)
Panda - PAID FOR - (Vista compatible)
Prevx1 - PAID FOR - (Vista compatible)
Kaspersky AOL Version - FREE

This is NOT a complete list of every anti-virus product, but instead a list of the most commonly used and talked about anti virus products.

Please vote for which you believe is the best in terms of reliability, stability and overall performance.

No one else think this would make a useful poll to stop all the post asking which anti virus is best then?

Yes very useful if it was a poll. Though better to ask What antivirus do you use rather than best.

Same thing with Software firewalls would be good.

Don't Avast and AVG actually offer paid for versions as well? Have slightly more functionality. Also what about AntiVir and the AOL branded Kaspersky free offering?

My vote would be for NOD32. Haven't used Kaspersky so can't comment.

I have, and very good it is too! :)

EDIT:

Should also have stated that I have used the (free) AOL branded Kaspersky (Active Virus Shield (AOL Active Shield)), and found it very good...highly recommended. ;)

I used NOD32 for a year and loved it. It was very smooth, quick and effective, not using up much resources either.
I now use Avast on my PC because I couldn't be bothered to pay for an AV - Avast is very nice so far, but I have noticed it is slower than NOD32, especially at starting up.
Not sure what the performance is like because I haven't had a virus for years! (hense the reason why I don't see the point in paying for an AV!)

AOL branded Kaspersky free offering

This gets my vote, used AVG for ages but got taken down badly by one virus that had it installed (and fully updated)
Installed the branded Kaspersky jobby and it killed the virus dead, therefore gets my vote :)

There's always one in each of these threads.
Always one what? Someone who promotes common sense?

When it comes to AVs I can't see how common sense is going to help. Common sense is not visiting naughty sites and not opening dodgy emails. But anyone not running even an AV on a Windows PC because they are using "common sense" instead just sounds like pure stupidity to me.

Personal vote would be for NOD32, is quick, offers an Exchange 2003 AV, has an update server offering and supports 64 bit windows, it is lightweight and seems to do better then a lot of the big boys such as Mcaffee and Symantec.

It's what will be going on my home Microsoft network.

However they do not have an ISA compatible plugin so Kaspersky will be used for that.

In terms of what I use then just moved from Norton Internet to Fsecure as Norton ran out and Fsecure came free with my last computer hardware purchase. Of those two then I prefer Norton as worked and did the job and I personally like the user interface better.

As I stated before, there are many more alternatives to the ones listed, but these are the most common, plus, cant put AOL's Kaspersky on the list as that is for AOL customers only and the poll would need to be as generic as possible.

Any chance of a mod making this in to a poll?

How is it for AOL customers only? I've just downloaded it yesterday to put on my laptop when I get home. I don't use AOL.
