Hey guys, I'm a student but looking to go somewhere for a meal with my girlfriend in Bristol.
Now we're not exactly swimming in cash so looking for a nice little restaurant, hopefully not much more expensive for main meals than maybe £10 (+wine, starters etc)each, just a reasonable price really, and serving nice food; of course.

Thanks a lot. :)

Mmmm, battered sausage and chips to die for

There fish is to die for as well......

Hope this thread gets more replies, I want to try some new places out. Went to an Indian in kingswood last night and it was only £14 a head and we all had 2 drinks.. That's a bargain price. Good curries but on the mild side.

It might be a little pricey, but Dynasty on Thomas Street really is fantastic if you like Chinese. Was nominated by the owner of Wagamama as one of the top five Chinese restaurants in the country I believe

+1 for GBK, went there last night and it was really nice, though almost £8 for a burger and salad, but don't forget it's much nicer meat (angus) than most places. Pretty handy for me too since i'm a stones throw from Park St.

A great (and very reasonably priced) italian is at the top of whiteladies, it's called Piazza di Roma, definitely worth going once. Refreshingly, the portions are large enough for you to struggle finishing!

Also been to San Carlo, which was amazingly nice, but expect to pay quite a bit. Good for a special occassion though, definitely would not reccommend on a budget!

Heard good things about Zizzis too, though have never been since it's usually quite busy.

La Tasca just off the clifton triangle is nice, you can get some very good deals on food. They did an all you can eat tapas for £10 each last time I went there, no catches.

Wagamama is nice, but a tad overrated for me, have not been to a good chinese/japanese restaurant yet, though haven't tried many.

Had a lovely indian at a small place just opposite illusions on the clifton triangle (sorry can't remember the name), the peshwari naan was to die for.

Hope that helps!

Cafe Rouge and La Tasca are both crap.

There's a nice Italian- style place just behind Millennium Square can't think what it's called now though, but it's a converted old brick building.

The absolute winner. Book a table and make sure it's downstairs. Loads of atmosphere and good portions of incredible food.

Compare something like Cafe Rouge and GBK with Sergio’s, and Sergio’s whomps it on every ground. One of my favourite restaurants.

Good food can also be found at The Picture House on Whiteladies, but it is quite expensive. Same goes for Fishers in Clifton.

I can't recommend Sergio's enough.

Cafe Rouge and La Tasca are both crap.
I concur, especially La Tasca.

The best Indian I have been to was the Taj Rah in Clifton. Right next to the excellent Pizza Provinciale.

Mmmmm, i've been to Pizza Provinciale, that was good, proper pizzas unlike some of the chains you can go to around there.

I'll check out sergios, I walk past sergios quite often but have never been, suprising since I live so close.

I always like going to Cattleman's Steak House on the Triangle when I lived in Bristol, can't beat them for their steaks. Probably a bit pricey for you tho.
