Who here has done it? I can almost beat brutal, I come close but it comes down to an endurance battle and because the AI gets €20k a minute(opposed to the €10k a minute for the player) it makes it very difficult to hold out. I know it can be done.

As a tip be sure to build a few refineries and spam preds and turtle while teching up to mammoths and sonic towers hold your float and as soon as you get a dozen mammoths with rail gun start ploughing into there base. I destroyed both their expansion and main base at different intervals but unfortunately they rebuilt them.

Heres a screenie of the stats of my latest attempt. :)

Heres my replay although there are some problems with replays in the demo so it may or may not work correctly.

I send the surveyor over to the expansion field and start building a base there while maintaining the start one. Both are important and you need both to survive. I'll have another shot at it, as I reckon I can beat brutal at some stage today. *Fingers Crossed*

Just had another go there now. Finally beat him. Truth be told I have been trying for days. About 15 attempts against brutal over the past few days. I feel like I've accomplished something. :p and it's only a video game!

Will post demo in a bit. I was even thinking of recording a movie.

Have they actually made the AI any smarter for Brutal opponents on this?

I always used to find the hardest AI on Generals annoying, because they weren't actually any smarter than the medium/next hardest level, they just got more money and could thus spam more units out. All you had to really do was get a decent defense line up quickly, turtle til they ran out of money, and then romp through their base with everything you had left.

Exactly, Thats all you do! Took me ages to figure it out. :)
To your first question though, no, the AI isn't really that smart. They don't run out of money in this either. :O They just keep spamming avatars and scorpions. Still it's fun having big battles with lots of units.

I found it quite easy by creating 2 expansion bases (1 at each of the side tib fields)

You have to be quick, and haul loads of base defence into them to stop their initial attempt to capture the area.

Although if you do this it does mean the AI base seems to sprawl across the whole map not long after they fail.
